Q + A

Should we rent a car?

If you are staying in Nice proper, we don’t recommend renting a car. Parking is not easy and the streets are very old and narrow. There are plenty of Ubers available and the downtown Nice and Old Nice are very walkable. If you plan on doing day trips, they do have trains that run along the coast but if you prefer the flexibility, renting a car at the airport is an option.

When should we arrive?

Festivities don’t start until Wednesday May, 7th for the welcome party but feel free to come early! There is plenty to do in and around Nice and hopefully the weather will be nice enough for beach days. We’ll continue to add things around the city to do and the neighboring towns and cities are full of their own charm.

Where should we stay?

We’ve added a number of hotels with various price ranges on the site. There are also plenty of airbnbs if you’re looking to stay in a group or have a more homey stay. Unfortunately, Europe doesn’t handle room blocks at hotels the same way as the states so there isn’t much we can do about that. The bride and groom will not be staying at the wedding venue but at Hotel du Couvent in Old Nice. Though you can stay closer to the venue, the welcome party and farewell will be in Old Nice. Cap-Ferrat (the area surrounding the venue) is more residential so if you’d like to walk out of your hotel or Airbnb to go grab lunch, drinks, or sight see, it’s best to stay in Nice closer to the water.

What should we pack?

The weather should be decently nice in May with highs around 75 during the day but prepare for cooler weather. Items to pack: -Swimsuit (if your hotel has a pool or spa or you’d like a beach day) -Adapter (you can find these at target or on amazon) -Euros (it’s a better conversion rate to retrieve euros from your own bank than using an ATM abroad) -Comfortable walking shoes (there are great walks along the water and through Nice. The streets can be very old and uneven in some areas)

What is there to do?

We have create a “Things to Do” list that you can reference and there are a number of guides online for things to do. It’s choose your own adventure whether you want to do more outdoorsy things like a nature walk or winery or prefer museums and shopping.
