Would it be considered culturally appropriate if I wish to wear Indian attire?

Wear whatever makes you feel comfortable! If you're up for it, we highly encourage Indian attire—think of it as a cultural appreciation! For both days, feel free to embrace vibrant and colorful outfits!

What day should I arrive for the ceremonies?

A great time to arrive for the festivities is Friday evening, as things kick off early on the 17th of May at 10am. Check in, get settled, and take a moment to explore the area around the hotel.

Where would I stay?

You would be staying at Gaithersburg Marriott Washingtonian Center, located at 9751 Washingtonian Blvd, Gaithersburg, MD 20878, and will serve as the primary accommodation. The booking link can be found under the "Travel and Stay" section.

What should I wear on 17th May?

For the 17th, the dress code is Colorful Dressy Casual or Indian Attire. Women may choose to wear sundresses, floral or patterned midi/maxi dresses, jumpsuits, chic skirts with stylish tops, or any other flowy and festive outfit. If opting for Indian attire, you can wear simple lehengas, sarees, anarkalis, palazzo pants with a nice top, or Indian suits (also called salwar kameez or Punjabi suits). Men can wear a button-down casual shirts with pants or chinos—no need for blazers! If you're up for Indian wear, kurtas are a great choice and are readily available online on Amazon and other retailers. 🚫Please avoid wearing solid white or black outfits. Let’s keep the energy as bright and festive as possible!

What should I wear on 18th May?

For the 18th, please wear your typical wedding attire or fancy traditional Indian attire. Women may choose to wear elegant cocktail dresses (midi/maxi), chic evening gowns, or dressy jumpsuits. For Indian wear, options include lehengas, sarees, fancy Indian suits (salwar kameez), or embellished anarkalis. For men, suits are the way to go! Pair a well-fitted suit with a dress shirt (tie optional). You can also add a stylish pocket square for a pop of color. 🚫 Please avoid shades of white.

What is the venue and timing for both days?

✦ May 17th: We’re kicking things off at the Marriott in Gaithersburg, MD (9751 Washingtonian Blvd, Gaithersburg, MD 20878). If you're traveling in, this will also be your home away from home—so unpack, relax, and get ready for the festivities! The event is from 10 am to 3 pm. ✦ May 18th: We’re taking the celebration 35 minutes down the road to Springfield Manor (11836 Auburn Rd, Thurmont, MD 21788). No need to worry about directions—we’ll have transportation from the hotel to the venue. This event is from 4:15 pm to 10:30 pm

Are you allowed a plus one?

Yes, you’re welcome to bring a plus one for both days—because celebrations are always better with good company! (just let us know on the RSVP)

Are there any plans for Friday or Saturday evening?

We don't have anything planned for those evenings. Feel free to catch up with folks staying at the hotel and explore what Rio has to offer!

Is it an open bar for both 17th and 18th May?

Yes, both days will feature an open bar. Please enjoy responsibly and make the most of the celebration!

How are the dietary restrictions handled?

When RSVPing for the wedding, please don’t forget to fill out your dietary restrictions. We’d love to know what’s off the menu for you and how you’d prefer your meal. For example, if chicken Tuscany isn't your thing, would a simple grilled chicken in olive oil do the trick? Let us know—we want everyone to enjoy their meal without any surprises!

What food will be served on 17th and 18th May?

✦ On the 17th, there will be a buffet featuring a variety of vegetarian, chicken and turkey sandwiches. ✦ On the 18th, a sit-down meal will be served. Options including chicken, vegetarian, and seafood will be available. Meals for both days are based on your selection at the time of RSVP. Please note, beef and pork will not be served on either day due to religious considerations.

Will the kids' meals be different from the main menu?

Go ahead and pick any meal for now—think of it as a placeholder! The kids will get their own special menu with both vegetarian and non-vegetarian options (aka food they’ll actually eat). It might change, but we promise they won’t be stuck with a five-course gourmet feast!
