Tyler and Makala met on New Year’s Eve in 2016. Makala was a junior in Highschool and Tyler a freshman in college. Makala had plans to attend a family gathering to celebrate New Year’s Eve like her family has been doing for years but was invited to her friend’s house for a get together at the last minute. After a little debate with herself about what to do, because Makala has an impossible time making decisions, she decided to take the leap to go hang out with friends. Meanwhile in New Germany, Tyler was getting ready to go to his Aunt and Uncles annual New Year’s Eve party when he received word of a get together from his cousin. Tyler was excited about this last minuet change of plans and headed out to meet up with his cousin. The two were thrilled to go to the party but would have never guessed where it would lead them. As the party started, Makala and Tyler were paired up as a team for a game. It wasn’t long before they were laughing and having the time of their lives. For the rest of the night they were inseparable. Their conversations started out casual, talking about sports and school but effortlessly turned into deep conversations about each other’s hopes and fears. Before they knew it, they had developed a bond without even trying. The night flew by and the countdown to the new year was on. Makala and Tyler shared their first kiss at midnight that New Year’s Eve. The next few days played out like a typical movie about a high school love story. They were spent staying up until 3:00am on the phone, sneaking upstairs trying not to wake anyone in the house. Makala ecstatic to share info about the “new boy” with friends at school. Before long the two had planned a first date. On January 7th Tyler picked Makala up to go bowling and get ice cream. Although they shared their first kiss on New Years Eve, Tyler did not kiss Makala goodnight until their fifth date! It was important to him to “do things right” and it turns out he did. Four short years later the two have developed a relationship with a solid foundation built on Faith, family, overcoming hardships, and the victories. They have albums full of pictures capturing millions of memories. Each memory playing an important role in developing the two into the people they are today; the relationship they have today. Makala and Tyler are excited and eager to continue to grow and build themselves and their relationship through the Sacrament of Marriage.
