Originally, Josiah's best friend offered to set the two up on a date, but Makayla politely declined. That hesitation quickly faded when they met for the first time at Carowinds.

It all began with a text...

Josiah and Makayla slowly began to get to know each other over coffee hangouts and trips between UNC and NC State. They both were quick to catch feelings, but it took a while to say them out loud.

Life got busy in the fall, but their paths continued to cross as God began to weave their story together before they even really knew. One day Josiah asked Makayla to coffee to "catch up," but the coffee sat mostly untouched as sparks flew and Josiah finally revealed his true intentions: to ask her out.

They officially started dating on December 5 and their relationship continued to grow through hometown trips, coffee dates, and many, many, many trips between Chapel Hill and Raleigh.

They said "I love you" outloud for the first time!

Josiah hid this message for Makayla in a series of letters to be opened over the summer during her time in Bulgaria.

This is one of their favorite pictures together because of the joy on their faces.

If you've spent even a little bit of time with Josiah and Makayla, you know they love to be goofy with each other.

& apparently Josiah loves to jump on Makayla's back.
