Our Wedding

We first met in college at NMU. Derek was a Senior, and Makayla was a Sophomore. Our first date was in December of 2019, and we went to Sol Azteca, a Mexican restaurant, for dinner.In March of 2020, when the pandemic happened, Derek stayed up in Marquette and we became inseparable until he went home in May.We did long distance for 2 years, but in 2022 Makayla made the move up to Anchorage, AK where we lived until the beginning of 2024.We are now living in El Paso, TX. We will be there for the next 3 years!

Nice hike up to an overlook of Lake Superior and Marquette! Has an easy and hard trail available. Takes about half an hour to get to the top.

Blackrocks is famous in Marquette for jumping off of into Lake Superior. Stop in on a nice drive around Presque Isle and experience the jump or watch others!

Presque Isle is open for driving and walking around. Has specific hours to do either activity, so check the website for specifics. Nice little drive, but be on the lookout for deer!

McCarty's Cove is one of the most popular beaches in Marquette. If you want to lounge next to one of the biggest fresh water lakes in the world this is the place to do it.

Lower Harbor offers a park for little ones, walking/biking path, and beautiful views of Lake Superior and old Ore Dock. Grab a bite to eat or drink downtown and take a walk through Lower Harbor. Fun fact: We got engaged at Lower Harbor!
