A lot of people don't fully know the story of how Matt and Makayla started their journey together. The story begins in Canton, Ohio at a last day of classes darty. Makayla told their mutual friend Ericka that she thought Matt was cute. It was a big game of telephone at this point when Ericka told Brennan, Matt's bestfriend, this information who then relayed it to Matt. The flirting began soon after this. Snapchats were exchanged and Makayla went back to Cleveland for the summer.

After a month of only texting, Makayla convinced Matt to drive up to Cleveland for a cavs watch party. He did. And those same sparks that were there at the darty were there. Matt made plans to come back two days later for their first date.

Matt and Makayla's first date was not a normal first date. They went to the downtown Cleveland Panini's (which is now closed, sadly), didn't talk to each other because of the loud music and Makayla ate a full plate of fries.

After seeing the appetite Makayla had and their dates revolving mostly around food or ice cream, Matt gave her the nickname lunchbox.

Soon after their first date, they made it official on June 5, 2017. Since then they have been growing together and supporting each other through different jobs, school, and now careers. Pushing each other to excel as far as they can. In 2021, Matt and Makayla moved into their first apartment together. Many memories were created there. Matt proposed to Makayla December 21, 2021 at Stan Hywet Hall and Gardens. In 2022, Makayla had the bright idea to get a puppy. Matt was not on board at first but Makayla was not taking no for an answer. And soon after they got Willow. In 2023, Matt and Makayla bought a house to continue their journey together.

Matt and Makayla's favorite things to do is find new restaurants, drinking specialty cocktails, and travel to new places together.
