Peter and Makayla met at Michigan State University through a mutual friend. They both felt an instant connection to each other and wanted to get to know one another more. Before they had a chance to go on a real date, COVID hit and the world grinded to a halt. Instead of being able to talk face-to-face, they did it all over the phone. They were communicating like this for a couple of months before they finally were able to see each other again. Once they did, they became inseparable. Multiple picnic dates, long walks outside and fun activities all took place throughout a wonderful summer together before beginning their senior year.
After graduating from Michigan State, Peter went to Indiana University for law school and Makayla went to Central Michigan University for physical therapy school. This started their long two and a half years of five and a half hour drives to each other (let’s be honest, it was mostly Peter driving to Michigan). However, the distance between them did not stop their fun dates with each other! They just turned back to their roots: FaceTime dates! Whenever Peter traveled to Michigan or Makayla made her way to Indiana, they would make the most of their time together and a plethora of fun activities like going to comedy clubs, sporting events and tailgates, wineries, and great restaurants.
It was May 8th, 2023, when Peter popped the question. Peter and Jenna (Makayla’s twin) had Makayla fooled into thinking that a proposal was still a few weeks—or maybe months—away. With the thoughts of only taking some photos for Jenna’s graduation, Peter and Jenna had another plan afoot. To Makayla’s surprise, that day became one of her most treasured. There were happy tears and multiple phone calls to friends and family telling them all about the good news.
3 years down and many more to go!
