How Andrew and Kenzie came to be...

Andrew: "Uh, idk we met at a bar."

Kenzie: "I wanted to go into Boston to celebrate my 21st birthday with the only person I knew that was of legal drinking age, my childhood best friend, Anna. The only person she knew that was also 21 was Andrew. We all went bowling at 'Jillian's', he bought me a birthday drink and I had an amazing time. I beat him! 😎

Fast forward a few months, I needed a change in my life and Anna, told me to come live with her and her roommate, Sydney, in Boston. So with no money or job I moved to Boston and lived in a 'Harry Potter' room under the stairs of their apartment. I was able to get a job in no time and developed an amazing group of friends, including Andrew. One night, we all went to the bar 'Game On' and played Ping Ping. Again, I beat him.

After that night, we became more and more friendly and hung out almost everyday. I could tell I was falling for him but was too nervous to start a relationship. After just getting out in the world on my own and my past relationships, I couldn't handle another heart ache. We took the summer off from seeing each other.

That fall, I had been talking to Sydney about how much I had missed Andrew but was afraid to reach out. She assured me that everything would work out and decided to go to a few bars and after a lot of tequila... we just so happened to come across Andrew's apartment. I buzzed and asked to be let up. Once he let me in, I told him how much I had missed him and didn't want to be without him again.

We agreed to work things out but to take it slow this time. A few months later, he invited me to meet his new puppy at home with some friends. While there, his grandfather wanted to know who I was, and Sydney told him, 'Andrew's girlfriend.'"

Andrew: "I had planned everything out months in advance and kept it hidden from Kenzie. On the day of she was oblivious and didn't even believe me until she saw the photographer."

Kenzie: "Looking back I should have suspected something, but I was not thinking he would anytime soon, so it was completely out of my mind. On January 2nd, his mom and grandmother took me to get my nails done and a massage which I had gotten as a Hanukkah present. Even while getting my nails done, the nail technician asked if I thought he would propose anytime soon. I was like, 'There is no way. He wants to wait til he graduates.'

We met up with Andrew and his brother, Josh, and went to the gift shop. At the gift shop, I saw some cute rings and exclaimed,

'Andrew would never get me a ring, he's afraid of them.' We then went back to the pool and relaxed the rest of the afternoon. Andrew made sure to keep reminding me of the fancy dinner at 5pm I had to get ready for, so I eventually went and showered and started to get ready. Anyone that knows me, knows I take forever to get ready and am always late. So he frequently checked in on how I was doing and my time frame.

When I was finally ready, he informed me that his grandmother wasn't feeling well and was laying in the bedroom. They encouraged us to head over and they would be behind us. When we were walking up to the restaurant Andrew said we should take a picture by this anchor. I was a little confused because he never asks for pictures, but I went along with it because the sun was setting and it was the most beautiful day.

When we got to the anchor, he told me that I looked beautiful but he had something to complete my outfit. At that point he started pulling a little box out of his pocket. I was still oblivious in that moment and thought 'oh, he's got me earrings!' But, no. He pulled out the most beautiful ring and got down on one knee. He then asked me to marry him. I said 'Your joking.' He said, 'Yes!' It wasn't til the photographer popped out that I believed him. I jumped into his arms. He answered, 'So?!' And I was like 'OBVIOUSLY YES!'

Andrew had arranged for an engagement shoot and I couldn't stop smiling. It was such a cute experience and I'm glad we have those memories. His mom, grandmother and brother soon joined and celebrated with us. It was more than I could have ever dreamed of. I am so blessed to get to marry such a thoughtful, amazing man."
