Malia and Tyler met on an online dating app, and connected right away. Malia was living two hours away but often in the Tampa area since she had to travel for work so often, so when they finally got a chance to go on a first date, Tyler knowing Malia's love for the beach and anything tropical, took her to a beach front restaurant in Tampa where they quickly realized there was a natural connection. On this first date, Tyler learned of Malia growing up dancing and love for musical theater. For their second date, he took her to see the Broadway show Anastasia. One week later, as Malia was about to fly out of town for work again, Tyler came and met her at the airport for lunch and a third date, and the rest is history. The beach has become a really special place in Malia and Tyler's relationship, for all the most special moments, favorite date night spot, beach weekend getaways, and where they fell in love. Naturally, it was the perfect place for Tyler to propose. They went out to the beach for the weekend to celebrate Malia's birthday, when the beach was completely empty, a rare site in the Clearwater/Sand Key area. They went to go for a swim, when Malia noticed Tyler was lagging behind. When she turned to ask him what the hold-up was, Tyler said "don't worry about it". Malia noticed a box like shape in his pocket and assumed they were her car keys, so in true-Malia fashion, she asked what was in his pocket, and he got down on one knee to ask her to marry him! Naturally, with the beach being such a special place in their life, it only makes sense to get married on the beach with all their loved ones! Don't worry, the pugs will be on the island too.

We are thrilled to have our family and friends join us on our special day from both near and far! Anna Maria Island is an absolutely beautiful place to stay and enjoy, with gorgeous white sand beaches, unbeatable sunsets and so many fun things to do. The closest airport is the Sarasota/Bradenton airport. You can also check Tampa, or even the St. Pete/Clearwater airports, but they are an hour or so more north. Since the island is more of a destination, many of you may decide to do a vacation rental from VRBO, HomeAway or AirBnB, to allow for the flexibility of travel or if you would like to make it a full vacation. Tyler and Malia will be staying in a VRBO property, themselves! If you would prefer to stay in a hotel, here are several different options that we enjoy.
