Summer 2012

Well, some say they fell in love at first SIGHT. Yep, the SITE was Plenty of Fish. After months of searching the site, I came across this light-skinned, skinny brother. I could hear his sense of humor from his post. For example, I also try to save at LEAST seven kittens stuck in a tree every week; when birds are perched on a wire, are they talking about each other? Thinking? Admiring scenery? Plotting? I looked at my girl Carmel doing my hair and said, "Look at him. He's handsome, funny, and has a job and a car, but he's light-skinned and skinny. Not really my type." She responded, "How's your type been working for you?"

Right, so I inboxed him.

"Hey there!!!"

We chatted for a few, and then, of course, Randy responded in fashion form, "Here's my number. I don't want to communicate through this site. Call me if you like."

Call him. I did!

On our first date at Pasta Pomodoro, we sat down, and they asked us what we were drinking. I asked what kind of wine do you like, and he said, "Moscato." In my head, I was like, this is the last date; Moscato is a no-no! Nevertheless, after the kiss, I thought we could work on the wine.

On our second date, it's now safe to say "our," BFF Mike had a birthday party. Now everyone who knows me knows I am frightened of dogs. This big dog comes around, and I almost wet my pants. I can't say we stayed long. Afterwards, we went to BevMo to get real wine and meet Cedric, Noma, and the kids. We had a blast, and I, aka Tommy from Martin just shorter, cracked jokes all night and drank wine.

On the third date we went to the MJB concert. It was excellent and we had fantastic seats!

Las Vegas baby! We went with my mom Shirley (coincidentally both our moms are named Shirley), my sister Shyla and cousin Kema. From my sister riding the bull to taking my mom to the Motown Review, we had a blast!

As busy schedules prevailed, we drifted apart, but always remained friends and would text or talk occasionally. In 2017 we began talking regularly.

And the rest is history.

We had fun times, from Warriors games, wine tasting, snow trips, vacations, celebrations, but also had hard times. But through it all, we made it and have grown so much. He is truly my rock, and a loyal, selfless, caring family man. My protector!
