Mal and Brett met in 2020 through a dating app called Hinge. Their first date took place over coffee at a Starbucks in Costa Mesa days before Covid-19 caused a complete lockdown. Despite most public establishments being shutdown, Mal and Brett bonded over their love for the outdoors, staying active, and their dogs Kylo and Sky. They went on many hikes, runs, and trips to the dog beach. Their relationship flourished through the pandemic! Mal eventually moved to Costa Mesa with some friends - and Brett just happened to be living nearby. On May 9th 2020, Brett asked Mal to be his girlfriend (and she said yes!) They enjoyed their time being neighbors and ultimately decided to move in together. Just a few months after moving in together, Brett's new job took them to beautiful Carlsbad, where they currently live with their two pups. They continue to enjoy being outdoors, at the beach, working out together, and loving on Kylo and Sky. In November 2023, they took a trip to Chicago IL where Brett surprised Mal and asked her to marry him while strolling along the Chicago Riverwalk. The proposal was so perfect and special.

On July 20, 2024, Mal and Brett will be married. Carlsbad is a special place, both Mal and Brett are excited to be getting married and celebrating their love with their most favorite people!
