Mal and Josh met in nursing school at California Baptist University in 2011, when they began pursuing graduate degrees in nursing. They remained friends for about a year until they began dating in 2012. They soon realized they wanted to spend the rest of their lives together, but discussed waiting until after graduation to tie the knot...
The two went to San Francisco (their favorite city) on vacation in May of 2014, and Josh took Mallory to a fancy steak dinner (her favorite)! After dinner, they took a leisurely stroll to Union Square to see the sights. In the middle of the park, Mal stopped next to the Dewey Monument to read the inscription. Josh asked her to pose for a picture, but when she turned around, he was down on one knee and presented a gorgeously sparkling diamond ring! She had already broken into joyful tears when he asked, "Mallory Kay Nakama, will you marry me?" (She cried so much that he had to clarify that this meant YES!)
After finishing school and getting married this year, the two plan to start new careers, Mallory as a Family Nurse Practitioner (FNP) and Josh as a Clinical Nurse Specialist (CNS). They also plan to move to San Fran to live in the city someday soon. Since both were raised in Riverside, this will be their chance to begin a new adventure together!
