Sayulita is a small picturesque fishing village and surf town just 45 minutes north of Puerto Vallarta. It has beautiful beaches, gorgeous sunsets, lush jungles, and a taste of small town Mexico in an incredibley safe environment. There are great waves, shops, resturants and activities for all, from snorkeling to yoga. The Sayulita Life website is a great resource for all things Sayulita, check it out!
Q: Will my cell phone work in Mexico?
A: Some will. Check with your service provider about international plans. Most hotels and villas do NOT have phones in the room. We hope the WiFi will help some guests keep in touch with iMessage or WhatsApp.
Q: Can I drink the water?
A: Sayulita's tap water is safe for bathing, but not for drinking or brushing your teeth. The water served at La Terrazola, Don Pedro's or any other reputable restaurant in town will be purified, including the ice. The fresh vegetables and fruits served at most restaurants in town should not cause the feared "Revenge."
Q: Should I rent a car?
A: The short answer is no. Everything is close to Sayulita and parking near the villas is not easy due to narrow steep roads. If you are staying at the extreme end of town, or would like to explore, you may want a car to zip around in, but all wedding events are close to one another. Golf carts are one of the most popular forms of transport and can be rented easily at Villa Amor or at http://www.pacificcoastgolfcars.com
Q: I want to come early or stay late, is that okay?
A: Yes! We will be getting there Thursday, May 31st. The first wedding activity is the welcome party Saturday night.
Q: Why doesn't anyone take credit cards? IMPORTANT
A: Most hotels, villa rentals, taxis, and local establishments only take cash, travelers checks and personal checks. There are few ATMs in Sayulita, but the ones OUTSIDE of the buildings are NOT recommended. Technology is not up to date and cases of fraud have been reported. BEST BET is to go to an ATM indoors or grab pesos for your entire stay at the Puerto Vallarta Airport before heading to Sayulita. The ATM in Sayulita will have a much better exchange rate than the airport, so keep that in mind.
***Updated information to come***
Q: What will the weather be like in Sayulita?
A: Most days are in the upper 80s with the nights in the mid 70s, keep in mind the humidity. The beaches are breezy and there are always nice options for shade. If heat is an issue for you, please make sure your accommodations are air-conditioned.
Q: What should I wear?
A: Sayulita is a very casual, beachy town, and most events are casual. The wedding is considered beach dressy. We certainly encourage guests to dress comfortably in the heat, meaning ties optional and light colors, but we still want to have a fancy party :) The ceremony will take place on the grass and the reception at the (paved) Palapa. Ladies should wear or bring flats to the wedding in case we move the party down to the beach when the music is cutoff at midnight!
