Our Wedding

We had mutual friends who were putting on a yoga retreat in Costa Rica January 2019. Being the supportive friends that we are, we went to Costa Rica on the retreat (It was really hard to be "supportive" and "have" to go to Costa Rica...) Dan drove me to the airport (since I didn't have a car at the time) and we had breakfast in the airport together before heading to the gate - We aren't sure if this counts for anything since it wasn't really a date... and if it was, I paid! But what we are sure about is that on the trip we decided we actually really enjoyed eachother's company (and Dan didn't look too bad in his swimsuit either - can I say that on here?) Dan knew I was interested when I sacrificed my front-of-the-plane aisle seat to move to the back of the plane and sit in the middle seat to fly back with him (this is a big deal for a consultant). And I knew Dan was interested when he told Gurveer, who told Lindsay, who told me (it was sort of like Middle school?) Not long after the trip we started going to yoga together and soon started dating. Yes, for those who didn't know, Dan did yoga. (I am still convinced it was to meet women... but I guess it worked?) I am not sure how much more of the story you want, but the rest was history. We moved in together. I learned to like cats. We bought a house. He learned that I didn't like any of his furniture. I enjoy his numerous hobbies (pizza making, kombucha brewing, coffee expertise, and now biscuit baking) We cook a mean brunch together. We got a second cat and a Peloton - and often act like an old married couple already.

Our Story

October 30th, 2020. We had just returned from Baltimore after Dan's father had passed. The night before I was a horrible cat mother and accidently let the cats out and we spent hours finding the little one (that's a separate story.) We were both exhausted and drained - and Dan said "Let's go to dinner tonight, we both need to get out of the house." I questioned his motive (are we getting engaged?) for a moment as we had not been out to eat dinner since March (thanks Covid) but then again, given all of the stress we had his story was believable. We went to the Alchemist for dinner (amazing!) and nothing happened - infact he threw me off the scent even further (not that I was on the scent anymore) by saying that he wanted to thank me for being there for him during the last very sad month. It was an absolutely lovely dinner and such a nice treat. When we got back to the house he told me to get the mail so I would be strategically placed by the Ring Doorbell (free videography!). He gave me a book that he made around all the reasons he loved me and on the last page it asked if I would marry him. He got down on one knee. There really wasn't much of a question, but he did say that it took me way too long to read the book (I think in hindsight he would have made it a shorter book)

The Proposal

After much debate in a strange year of Covid, we decided to do a small destination wedding. We will head to St. Thomas to get married right before thanksgiving (fingers crossed all goes well with travel and Covid!) We look forward to celebrating with family and friends at receptions in 2022 post-pandemic.
