From the Plaza in downtown Ashland you have unlimited access to trails throughout Lithia Park that connect within ten miles to the Pacific Crest Trail. Our favorite is parking at the reservoir at the top of Lithia Park and heading up Bandersnatch, Red Queen or the Wonder Loop. The drive up I5 to Mt Ashland is less than 30 minutes to reach the Pacific Crest Trail and great views of Mt. Shasta and the entire Rogue Valley.
Contained within the Rogue Valley AVA, which itself is part of the larger Southern Oregon AVA, the Applegate Valley AVA is represented by the Applegate Valley Vintner’s Association, a group of 18 unique wineries producing a diverse array of wines: high quality and hand-crafted wines that have made this one of the most interesting wine regions in the west. Some of our personal favorites in the Applegate are Red Lily, Cowhorn (biodynamic), Troon (biodynamic) and closer to town also enjoy Stoneriver, Naumes Suncrest, Paschal and Belle Fiore.
Founded in 1935, the Tony Award-winning Oregon Shakespeare Festival (OSF) is among the oldest and largest professional non-profit theatres in the nation. Running each year in Ashland, each season brings 10 plays, shown on three stages. The OSF has announced their 2025 schedule as Julius Caesar, The Importance of Being Earnest, As You Like It, The Merry Wives or Windsor and other more contemporary works.
Fed by rain and snow, Crater Lake is the deepest lake in the USA and one of the most pristine on Earth. Artists, photographers, and sightseers gaze in wonder at its blue water and stunning setting atop the Cascade Mountain Range. This is a two hour drive from Medford, but, if you are spending extra time in the area it's worth a drive.
