Abb and Marci had a shared calendar filled with sporting events, celebrations, and date nights. Marci found herself checking their shared calendar every day, counting down the days until an event that might end in a proposal. Marci waited patiently, well, Abb might disagree with the word “patiently”.

Abb wanted the proposal to be a complete surprise, so he worked with her family to coordinate a fake family photo shoot at the lake house, her favorite spot on earth.

Earlier in the year Marci had gifted her mom a giftcard for a family photos, so they knew she wouldn't suspect a thing. Marci joked with Abb a few days before the proposal saying, “We have family photos this weekend, and you’re not invited—because I don’t have a ring on my finger!”. She was hoping to spark some urgency, but he just smiled, took a sip, and said, “It’ll happen.” Little did she know, it was coming sooner than expected.

The big day arrived, and Abb got to at the lake early to make sure everything was in place. The plan was to get Marci to the lake dressed up and ready without suspecting a thing. Which was tough, because we all know that Marci hardly wears shoes and always does her makeup on the go.

Her sister in law picked her up in College Station and during the hour-and-a-half drive to the lake, Marci went on and on about when Abb was going to propose. Rachel kept reminding her that Abb knows her better than anyone, and however he was going to do it would be perfect.

When they finally arrived at the lake, Abb had been hiding in a boat dock closet for 20 minutes. Marci jumped into photos with the mission of finding the perfect spot before bring out the entire family. She followed the photographers orders and was so focused on their conversation that she didn’t even notice Abb walking up behind her. The photographer looked at Abb, and that’s when Marci saw him coming towards her. She was in shock. She kicked off her shoes, realizing what was about to happen. She rushed to hug him, half jumping, half falling to her knees in excitement. Abb dropped to one knee and asked, “Marci, will you marry me?”

They sat together, soaking in the moment, filled with joy and gratitude. They celebrated afterwards with family and friends.
