The Markets at Shrewsbury

Amish farmers market is true to tradition — housing vendors that offer local amish produce and meat, homemade baked goods, crafts, clothing, and some of the best Pennsylvania Dutch eateries around.


If you're looking to get some Amish made goods or would like to do some Christmas Shopping while you're in town, the markets will also be hosting their Festive Friday and Christmas by Candlelight on Friday December 6th. You’ll find special holiday deals from local merchants as you shop by candlelight for your Christmas preparation.

Brown's has got it all! Produce, deli, and bakery. They also have a Cafe & Coffee bar serving breakfast or lunch. In addition, shop around for some homegood gifts if you're looking for some Christmas presents or grab some fudge & old fashioned candy.

Shop Christmas Tree Hill for thousands of unique gifts, brands, fashions, home decor, seasonal decor, collectibles, functional gifts, and more!


The store is located in a beautiful estate, reflecting nearly two centuries of York County history, dating back to the post - Revolutionary War period.

Freedom Log House

About 30 minutes from the Hampton Inn but one of our favorites! Small Family Owned and Operated Business. Handmade unique gifts and repurposed furniture among other gifts.


They do tend to run odd hours but are open most weekends. Check online on their facebook for hours if you plan on making the trip.

If It's Breweries You're Looking For...

AleCraft Brewery

About 10 minutes from the Hampton Inn. Located in Railroad, PA. Adjacent to the York County Heritage Rail Trail.


Black Locust or Big Truck

Farm fresh beers. Built from scratch. Self-taught growers and makers. Great beer & has a variety of food trucks.


Both are just over the MD line, about a 15 minute drive from the Hampton Inn. Black Locust appears to be in someone's backyard but we swear it's pretty cool!


A few others to check out nearby, Gunpowder Falls Brewing or Black Cap Brewing Company.

Things to do (>30 Mins Away)

Hanover (SnackTown)

Hanover, PA is about 40 minutes away. Known for being the founding town for UTZ potato chips. You can visit the town center and stop by some local breweries like Fat Bat Brewing or stop by Vinny's Italian Market for italian meats & cheeses sliced to order, desserts or coffee.


Check out Snyder's of Hanover Factory Store for a variety of snack foods, candy, souvenirs, gift baskets and more!


We also highly recommend the Atland House Grill which is located in Abbottstown, PA and is just outside Hanover.

Gettysburg

Gettysburg is about an hour away but if you haven't been, we highly recommend it! Visit the Gettysburg National Military Park to get a glimpse back into an important turning point in our Nation's history. There are easy self guided driving tours throughout the park. Check out the museum & visitor center.


The town center in general has plenty of shopping options and restaurants to check out. A few recommendations include Appalachian Brewing Company, Garryowen Irish Pub, Sweeet! THE Candy Store and The Lucky Paw.


Additionally, A Gettysburg Christmas Festival will be ongoing all weekend during your visit! Stroll through the historic downtown and enjoy all ​the activities, ​events, entertainment, specials, ​decorations, ​​and lights of the holiday season.

National Clock & Watch Museum

Fun fact! This was one of the first places we visited before moving to PA.

The National Watch and Clock Museum, located in Columbia, Pennsylvania, is one of a very few museums in the United States dedicated solely to horology, which is the history, science and art of timekeeping and timekeepers. You'll find hundreds of different types of clocks & watches from all decades. Cool kind of museum if you're looking for something different!

Haines Shoe House

It is what it sounds like. A house shaped like a shoe! Fun little tourist attraction. You can even rent this place out for the night. It's actually pretty nice inside with a hot tub and a smaller shoe as a doggie house.

Baltimore

You'll be about 40-50 minutes from Baltimore, which has a number of things to do and see like the National Aquarium, and shopping and dining around the Inner Harbor.

Parks & Hiking Trails

Though it will be considered the off season during your visit, if you're looking to check out some scenery, Codorus State Park, or the Heritage Rail Trail has a number of hiking trails and are open year round.


Northern Central Railway of York, located in New Freedom hosts year-round scenic train rides for all ages at an affordable price! Offers an authentic experience where you can enjoy beautiful countryside, and ride along the rails that helped build our nation.
