Walking:The best places for a walk with a view:-Ruston Way waterfront (paved). Bikes for rent outside the WildFin restaurant-Chambers Bay golf course loop (3 miles) in University Place.&nbsp;Full loop around a US Open golf course, open to the public. Also has trails to the waterfront-Point Defiance, both paved and woodsy trail options. Also has beautiful gardens, Owens beach, and a network of trails for running/walking.&nbsp;&nbsp; Kayaking/SUP:- Owen's Beach at Point Defiancehttps://www.parkstacoma.gov/boat-rentals/- Ruston Way South, near Tacoma Chinese Reconcilliation Park.https://www.bigbuspaddlesports.com/rentals- Gig Harborhttps://www.leessup1.com/

Wildlife Spotting:If you are walking near the water you will almost certainly see some seals but here are popular spots they hang out in groups!- Dune Peninsula- Owens Beach- Titlow Beach Whale Watching:There are whale watching tours that leave from Seattle, Port Angeles and Port Orchard. We went in June out of Port Angeles two years ago and saw Orcas and Humpbacks. Boat Tours:Destiny Harbor Tours does a guided tour of the sound that leaves from Gig Harbor. We loved it, but it is not a whale watching tour, no guaranteed wildlife viewing.

Itinierary:7:00am: Bus will leave Tacoma at 7am! Pick up location coming soon. 9:30am: Arrive. 2 hour ride to the top of the park. 9:30-3:30: Hike, Hang out, Eat, Enjoy the Views!3:30-6: Travel back to Tacoma.

Dress in layers, bring a jacket and pants. If you are planning to do a moderate-hard hike then bring boots! We will keep an eye on the weather. If it looks like all the snow hasn't melted we will reach out with an updated plan! By the end of June this shouldn't be a problem.

Mt. Rainier Bus Trip Details

Olympic National Park is close enough to day trip from Tacoma! 

Here's a few tips if you are planning a trip:

For a morning+afternoon

Hurricane Ridge Visitor Center is the most popular visitor center and is about 2.5 hours from Tacoma. From here you can do the Hurricane Hill hike (3 miles) and still make it back to Tacoma for dinner. Paved and not too steephttps://www.nps.gov/places/000/hurricane-hill-trailhead.htm If you're looking for a challenge, visit one of our favorite Olympic National Park hikes at Lake Crescent instead, Mount Storm King

For a Full Day Trip

If you want to see all distinct ecosystems Olympic National Park has to offer, we recommend taking a full day to do the full park loop. You can hit the the sub-alpine mountains, pacific ocean, and pacific rainforest trails in one (long) day! For the vampire fans, you'll need to travel almost all the way to Rialto to visit Forks and their year round Twilight attractions. If you're taking this route to visit Forks, be sure to book tickets to the Forks Twilight museum in advance Rialto Beach Rocky pacific beach home to the Hole in the Wall hike. Be sure to check the tides! Hole in the Wall is inaccessible at high tide! You'll probably see some seals and other wildlife Hoh Rainforest Easy paved trails from visitor center through old growth temperate rain forest. When you're on the trails you feel like the forest is frozen in time. Slightly more difficult hikes follow the Hoh River from here Ruby Beach Stop for the overlook or step down onto the beach for a walk. Home to sea otters! Quinalt Rain Forest Another excellent example of pacific rain forest. Less crowded than the Hoh Rain Forest Visitor Center but also fewer amenities.
