At the start of the Fall Semester in 2022, Maggie spotted Caleb around campus and thought he was really cute. With a few mutual friends, she decided to ask them what he was like. They had nothing but great things to say, including the fact that he was single. Even so, Maggie figured there wasn’t much point in approaching him since she was about to graduate and leave Pennsylvania.

Just when Maggie had come to terms with the fact that she might only ever have a crush on Caleb from afar, she heard from a mutual friend that Caleb was asking about her too. It seemed like it was only a matter of time before they would finally meet in person.

The next day, November 15, 2022, Caleb spotted Maggie at the Highlands coffee shop on campus and worked up the nerve to introduce himself. He asked for her number, and they started chatting. Their connection kicked off with a shared love of music, and they began exchanging playlists made just for each other.

A few days later, Caleb invited Maggie to an official date at Johnson Hall Coffee House on November 21, 2022, right before Thanksgiving break. Even though Maggie came down with strep throat and almost canceled, she was so excited about the date that she pushed through.

On their first date, both were a bit nervous but excited. Caleb ordered his usual shot of espresso, while Maggie had her go-to chai latte with oat milk. They talked about everything—their testimonies, families, childhood memories, close friends, majors, future dreams, churches, past relationships, and what they hoped for their friendship.

Caleb mentioned he was “trying” to stay single for a year (until June 2023), which struck Maggie as odd since they seemed to hit it off so well. She left the date feeling a bit disheartened, thinking he might not want to pursue things further. (Thankfully, that feeling didn’t last long.)

After Thanksgiving break, the two met up at their school’s coffee shop again. Caleb explained that while he had initially planned to stay single, their connection felt special, and he was open to seeing where things could go. They agreed to take things slowly but be exclusive.

As Christmas break came and went, Caleb and Maggie found themselves more smitten with each other every day, eagerly counting down the days until they could see each other again. On December 31st, Caleb met Maggie’s family, who instantly liked him. They joked around, talked about theology, and discussed his upbringing and future plans.

That New Year’s Eve, at a friend’s party, Caleb asked Maggie to be his girlfriend right after the ball dropped. They were both thrilled and excited to see what the future held for them.

From the beginning, their relationship felt uniquely special. Their ability to handle disagreements and support each other, their easy interactions with each other’s families, and their investment in each other’s friends all showed how deep their connection was.

So many more things could be said on what brought them to this moment where they say "I DO," but ultimately, both can say that it's God who sustained them both and provided the grace to get here. Their love for the Lord has grown immensely because of the other's push to be consistent in the Word, pursue fellowship with believers, and be plugged in to their local church.

Their union is exciting for many reasons, but the most exciting reason is that God will use their marriage to deeply sanctify and point each one to himself again and again for the rest of their lives.
