A lot of love stories are the result of destiny, love at first sight, or just waiting to find the right person. This was not the case for Maggie and Nick. After months and months of relentless attempts of "matchmaking" from Nick's cousin and Maggie's co-worker, Maria, she was finally able to get us to meet up. Every time Maggie or Nick saw Maria, she would say, " Oh my gosh, I have the perfect person for you! You have to meet, you are going to love each other and you are perfect for one another. Here look at Facebook. Isn't he/she so handsome/pretty?" Maria soon recruited others in her efforts to try and make it happen. On Friday, January 13th, 2017, Maria hosted a psychic party, where a psychic comes in and gives everybody readings on their future, and she conveniently invited both of us. Maggie came with her Aunt Kim and Nick came with Abby, his sister. They would all leave the room and leave Maggie and Nick sitting and talking to each other, while they were staring through windows watching us talk and they were pleased with themselves as their plan was working perfectly. Although neither of us ended up seeing the psychic, we both had a good idea of what was in store for our future.
Both of us were nervous to make the first move, so a week later, Maggie texted Nick. They texted all night. Finally at 3 A.M. they said goodnight and woke up the next day and did it all over again. They agreed to go out on a date to Dave & Busters the following Friday night. We had dinner, played games, spent a lot of money, and decided it was time to go so we left. On the way home, we were talking and we both decided that we weren't finished spending time with each other yet. Nick was two minutes from Maggie's house, and they both decided they wanted to go see a movie together. So Nick turned around and went to Springdale Cinemas for an 11:30 P.M. showing. The night finally came to an end and we said our goodbyes for the night.
Fast forward to 2019, Nick decided he wanted to propose to Maggie. After her parents approval, Nick bought a ring and was planning to propose to Maggie. We had planned a family pool day at Pop's with both of our families. Before the pool, Maggie and Nick went to Dave & Busters to play games and reminisce over the fun times we had on our first date a couple years before. We were leaving at 3:45 so that we could be at Pop's at 5. The plan was to go home, pick Bernie up, and that is when Nick was going to propose and then we would all celebrate at Pop's. Maggie, not having any idea this is going to happen, asked Nick if he wanted Skyline for a quick bite to eat. Nick, not wanting to be out of character, said of course he would like Skyline, even though he was nervous because he was proposing to Maggie in the next 20 minutes. So we got our Skyline and made our way home, where Nick had his sister Abby set up a picture book Nick had made and rose petals all over the kitchen. We pulled up and Maggie said, "I'll just sit in the car and wait out here." Nick said, "No you have to go in. I, uh, I have to poop. It will be a minute." Maggie sighed and walked in. Once she walked in, she saw the picture book and rose petals and yelled at Nick, "NICHOLAS, WHAT THE HELL IS THIS? NICHOLAS?!?!?!" The picture book Maggie was reading had pictures on every page with a couple lines about the adventure they had been through together. On the last page, the book read, "Now go back and read the first letter of each page and see what it says." It spelled out "Will you marry me?" Nick dropped down to a knee (he asked Maggie if he had to and she said he had to drop down on a knee), asked her to spend the rest of their lives together and SHE SAID YES! After a couple moments of disbelief and trying to wrap her head around what had just happened, they got in the car and went to Pop's to celebrate the momentous occasion with their family.
