Q + A

We're out of towners, what airport should we fly into?

If you don't mind a connecting flight to Kalamazoo Int. (AZO), landing in K-zoo will get you within an hour drive to St. Joseph. If flying into Chicago, we'd recommend landing at Midway Int. (MDW) and then renting a car to drive 1.5-hours to St. Joe. Detroit Metro (DTW) is also a great option with little traffic on the 2-hour drive to St. Joe.

We're flying in, should we rent a car?

Folks who are flying in should rent a car to make the final leg of the trip to St. Joe. For our sporty adventurous guests Amtrak could also be a potential option with stops in New Buffalo and St. Joe.

Where should I stay?

See the 'Travel' tab for hotel blocks and accommodation recommendations. St. Joseph also has great AirBnb, Bed & Breakfast, and numerous other hotel options in the area.

Can I use Lyft or Uber to get around St. Joe?

Unfortunately, rideshares can be pretty limited in St. Joe. If you plan on moving around St. Joe and SW Michigan, we'd recommend renting a car as there's lots to see and do!

How far away is the wedding venue from the hotels in St. Joseph/Benton Harbor?

About 20-25 minute drive! We will have a charter bus service set up for transport to and from the venue from hotels in the St. Joseph/Benton Harbor area.

How should I get to the venue?

The venue is in a location where it is tucked away in the woods, with potentially spotty Wi-Fi and GPS, and lighting on the country roads will be limited. To make it easy for you, we will have shuttle buses set up to take guests to and from the venue to select hotels (The Boulevard, Silver Beach Hotel, Holiday Inn Express).

Will there be parking at the venue?

Yes, there will be plenty of parking with the option for overnight parking if needed. Should you leave your car overnight, please make arrangements to pick it up by 10:00am ET the following morning.

What is the attire?

Semiformal

Will there be AC at the venue?

No, there will not be AC. However, MillCreek is an open air venue with lots of shade, and there will be fans if needed within dance halls and reception area.

What types of floors will be at this rustic venue?

The dance floor/reception area has a polished concrete floor, but the areas surrounding the venue will be comprised of woodchips, grass, and gravel.

Can I bring a guest and/or kids?

If it is specified on your wedding invitation, yes!

What about the time change, now?

For folks coming from Chicago, don't forget about the time change! Michigan is in the Eastern time zone and is an hour ahead of everyone in Chicago/IL/anyone else in the Central time zone. Build an extra hour into your plans when traveling east.

What if I want to drive to the ceremony, but not reception. Can I leave my car at the church?

Yes, there will be parking available at the church, and you can leave your car there overnight and hop on the shuttle to the reception site (MillCreek Wilde).

Is it safe to leave my car at the reception venue overnight?

Yes! You can leave your car at MillCreek Wilde overnight.
