Our Wedding

Our love story began on the 16th of July 2021. We met one evening at friends, and when Phillip stepped out of the car, Margot turned to her friends and said, “Look at him! Wow.” To be honest, from that very moment, Margot fell head over heels for Phillip. That was the start of our journey together — and we’ve been inseparable ever since. Soon it was time to meet the family and friends. One of the highlights was when Margot first walked into Phillip’s house, and he warned her, “Passop vir die swart hond.” Little did Phillip know that Chloe and Margot would become best friends — because Margot wasn’t going anywhere! Even though our families and friends are quite different, there’s one thing we all have in common: a deep love for dogs. And honestly, that’s important — if you don’t love dogs, I probably won’t love you either! Now we’re one big happy family surrounded by lots of furry friends. Fast forward to the 4th of September 2021 — after months of Margot’s gentle (and not-so-gentle) nagging — Phillip finally asked her to be his girlfriend. What started as a simple walk on the beach turned into a sweet surprise, with the words “Sal jy my meisie wees?” written in the sand. And just like that, it was official — Facebook official, to be exact! We’ve shared so many memories since that first night — nearly two years of long distance (which Margot hated every minute of), celebrating milestones together, and simply being each other’s happiness. We bring out the best in one another: Phillip keeps Margot grounded (for all the right reasons), and Margot keeps Phillip’s stubbornness in check. Even though we’re two very different souls, we’ve found a love that fits perfectly. Phillip loved teasing Margot, often saying, “Ek weet ietsie wat jy nie weet nie.” It drove her crazy — “Wat weet hy?!” But on the 15th of December 2024, Margot finally found out what he knew. He was planning to ask her to marry him! That weekend started with a road trip to Graskop with friends — in a car without aircon (we didn’t realize it was broken until it was too late!). On the 15th, Phillip was a bit on edge, but Margot didn’t think much of it. Later, everyone decided to go to a lookout point to take “photos.” It was a hot day, and Margot stood under a tree, getting a bit impatient as everyone moved around aimlessly. When Phillip finally came over, Margot told him to stand on the rock next to her for the photo. But he stayed on another rock instead — which, of course, annoyed her! And then, as she turned around, there was Phillip on one knee, asking her to marry him. Cue the emotions, tears, and shaking — but also pure happiness. Margot, of course, said “YES!!” Phillip smiled and said, “Nou weet jy wat ek weet.” It was the most beautiful proposal, perfectly planned — and Margot didn’t suspect a thing. Our journey together has been full of love, laughter, and growth — through good times and tough ones. We’re beyond excited to start this next chapter of our lives as husband and wife. Soon-to-be Mr. and Mrs. Steinberg — filled with gratitude, love, and so much joy as we celebrate our wedding surrounded by all the people who have supported and loved us from the very beginning.
