HOW WE MET

Margot and David's journey began in the digital world of Hinge, where fate and a well-designed algorithm brought them together. Both looking for something genuine, they quickly realized they shared a unique connection that was worth exploring. As fate would have it, Margot’s mom and friends encouraged her to delete her dating apps and take a break. She had made plans with David but assured them that after this date, if it didn’t work out, she would take delete her dating apps for a while.

FIRST DATE

On March 5, 2019, Margot and David met in person for the first time at Roger’s Park Social in Chicago. They spent hours talking about their lives, dreams, and mutual distrust for the Chicago red line. It was Mardi Gras, and while Roger’s Park Social was loud and packed (with a brass band that later departed for a parade), it didn’t stop David and Margot from chatting.

THE EARLY DAYS

In the months that followed, Margot and David’s relationship blossomed. They explored the city together, trying out new restaurants, attending concerts, comedy shows, and even taking impromptu weekend trips. They discovered a mutual love for travel and cozy nights in with a good movie and popcorn. It wasn't long before they realized they had found true love.

THE PUP

Their little family grew when they adopted a lovable dog named Scout. Scout quickly became an integral part of their lives, adding joy and excitement to their daily routines. From running around in the park next door to playful evenings at home, Scout’s presence strengthened their bond even more.

THE PROPOSAL

David proposed to Margot in the Chicago Art Institute gardens, one of Margot’s favorite outdoor spots in the city. Scout surprised Margot at the gardens wearing a “will you marry me?” bandana. And the rest is history! David had worked out the details with Elizabeth, Margot’s best friend and maid of honor, who brought Scout via Uber Pet.

BUILDING A LIFE TOGETHER

As they navigated life's ups and downs, Margot and David's love continued to grow deeper. They supported each other's careers, each switching employers in early 2022, celebrated each other's achievements, and stood by each other through challenges. Their shared love for travel and the outdoors took them to Iceland, Yosemite, and the Grand Canyon, creating unforgettable memories and experiences that further solidified their partnership. They are currently taking guitar classes together at the Old Town School of Folk Music.
