Things To Do in Buffalo

Niagara Falls

See the amazing natural wonder of the world from the American side! Check out the Maid of the Mist, a boat ride in the gorge that gets you an up close look at the falls, and Cave of the Winds, a splash deck built at the base of Bridal Veil Falls. If you have your passport, check out Clifton on the Canadian side. Clifton is full of fun activities such as mini golf, bowling, amusement park rides, wax museums, and more! We had our first date on the American side, and we spent our 5th anniversary on the Canadian side.

Canalside

Canalside is in the heart of downtown Buffalo on the waterfront. There are many things to do down here including walk the boardwalk and shoreline trail, go kayaking, and the Buffalo Naval Park tour.

In the winter, in the area behind the science center underneath the bridges, there is an outdoor ice skating rink. Noah proposed to Maria on the bridge decorated for the holidays, overlooking the ice rink.

Buffalo Riverworks

Buffalo Riverworks is one of the coolest places to visit in downtown Buffalo. They have a ropes and zip line course through the historic grain elevators, rock climbing on those same grain silos, kayaking, a Ferris Wheel, and a restaurant. We come here all the time to eat, watch the Bills, and to enjoy other events such as a Shaq DJ Party, and live MMA fights.

Summer Festivals

Stay tuned for updated festival information.

Vidler's and East Aurora

A fun store in the nice downtown area of East Aurora, shop for a little bit of everything. Maria and Noah have often shopped here for mini kitchen utensils and rubber ducks.

Highmark Stadium and New Bills Stadium

Drive by Highmark Stadium in the nearby Orchard Park, as well as the new Bills stadium under construction across the street. We have been to several Bills games and tailgates and highly recommend going to a game.

Nearby in Orchard Park, you can hike to see the Eternal Flame, and play disc golf at Chestnut Ridge Park.

Anchor Bar / Bar Bill / Duffs

When in Buffalo, the birthplace of the chicken wing, you have to try some chicken wings. Anchor Bar is the home of the original chicken wing and a must try for wing enthusiasts. Duffs is the main competition to Anchor Bar in the area, and we like Duff’s just a little more. Bar Bill is the consensus best wing place in the Buffalo area among locals. We highly recommend trying wings from any of these restaurants.

Brazen Brewing / Hydraulic Hearth / Hamburg Brewing Company

These breweries located around the Buffalo area are a few of our favorite restaurants, not only because they have very good food and drinks, but because they are dog friendly. We like doing things with our dog Rose, and she loves the attention, as well as the small pieces of giant pretzels that we feed her under the table.

Fat Bob's

Fat Bob’s is the best BBQ you will find in Buffalo. Located downtown just a few blocks away from our first apartment, we used to eat here often. Noah recommends the pulled chicken sandwich with Mac and Cheese, and Maria recommends the 1/3 rack of ribs with Mac and Cheese and cornbread.

Pour Taproom

Located just a stones throw away from our first apartment downtown, Pour Taproom is our go to spot for drinks. This bar features self serve taps with craft beers and IPAs, as well as the best trivia around on Wednesday nights.

Mississippi Mudd's / Old Man River

Just down the street from our home, Mississippi Mudds is our go to ice cream spot. It is across the street from Niawanda park and has a gorgeous view of the Niagara River. Old Man River is just down the street and has delicious BBQ, seafood, as well as burgers and dogs. On any given night when the weather is nice, you could find us, including Rose, having ice cream, and splashing around in the boat launches.
