We understand that our wedding is on a Friday. The main meal course includes meat, but it will be separate and can be skipped if desired. There will also be another source of protein available to substitute for the meat in the meal. Fr. McCarthy stated that those in attendance who wish to eat meat can simply do what the Catholic Church allows on Fridays outside of lent: to substitute some other penance or prayer instead of abstaining from meat on this day.
