Expect a lively, festive atmosphere with a mix of Polish and Bulgarian customs. Be prepared to dance, eat delicious food, and celebrate with the couple! Be ready to throw rise or small money at the couple when getting out of the church. The tradition dictates that Maria's mom will greet the couple with salt, vodka, and bread when they arrive at the reception venue. The couple needs to drink the vodka shot, spoiler alert, one of the glasses only contains water! And whomever gets the vodka shot, will be the man of the house! The couple then needs to throw the shot glasses behind for them to break - another sign of prosperity for the newly weds! Filip has to steal Maria from her home, after bribing the family to make sure they allow him to get her... Another tradition we will celebrate is one where, the bride and the groom stand up, back to back, and hold a big, round loaf of bread over their heads during the reception. Held on the day after the reception, Sunday the 22nd of June, it starts around 1pm so that everyone can get some rest after partying into the early morning hours of the day. It is a continuation of the reception, where more food and drinks are to be expected, but make no mistake, we primarily want to spend more time with all our amazing friends and family who made it all the way to Warsaw to celebrate our love together!
