Our Wedding

This has been quite the journey to get where we are today. The twists each of our lives took and the things we’ve been through all made it worth while because we met each other. Who would have thought that a swipe right would lead us to the incredible combined family we have and the life we are building together in Hawaii?!? Yes, it all started on Tinder of all places!! Wes was brave enough to meet me to throw axes on our first date and when that didn’t scare him away (because I’m pretty good!) and I got to see the amazing man he hides behind his goofiness I was hooked! What sealed the deal was the day he proposed. Not just because he asked me to marry him but because he showed me his unwavering love. I had just gotten off the phone with one of my doctors with the dreaded word cancer still ringing in my head and he proceeded to tell me his phone call at the same time was the call that he was deploying to a conflict zone the next month. When most would have ran, he dropped to one knee in front of the couch and said this wasn’t how he’d planned on asking but he wanted to spend the rest of our lives together and to please marry him. Through the tears I happily said yes! In the relatively short time we’ve been together we’ve overcome more obstacles than those married for years have faced (surgeries, cancer, deployment, move across an ocean, custody battles, etc.). We’ve never let these struggles divide us and faced them side by side as we’ve learned how strong we can be when we have each other’s support. What’s even better is we are able to be the parents we’ve always wanted to be for all our kids and can hopefully show them what a happy and healthy marriage looks like. Yes, it’s been a crazy ride to get to where we needed to be so we could meet but we are so thankful because the challenges we’ve faced that led us to each other also show us how lucky we are to have each other.
