How we met

After a few days of witty banter via Bumble and eventually text exchange, Justin took Mariah out to dinner at the Odyssey in Hastings, NE. We ended the evening by walking around the Adams County Fair where Justin tried really hard to convince Mariah to go on the roller coaster. Although the convincing was not good enough for the roller coaster, it did the trick on the invite to the Nelly concert the following evening. Little did Mariah know that the concert experience would be a roller coaster in and of itself. The concert was cut short as a tornado warning, strong winds, and hail was moving right our way. Justin quickly learned that Mariah does not like storms at all.

Our first trip

Visiting the Notre Dame campus in South Bend, Indiana has been on Justin's bucket list for forever. We took a couple of days enjoying the campus views, participating in pre-football game traditions, and celebrating a WIN over the football rival USC. Continuing on our first trip together, we were blessed when we attended mass at the beautiful Basilica of the Sacred Heart Cathedral. After our time in South Bend, we toured around the windy city, Chicago. We enjoyed a classic deep dish pizza from Giordano's, a Chicago hot dog, the Art Institute of Chicago, views from the top of Willis Tower, bike rides along Lake Michigan, and walks through Millennium Park.

The Proposal

The proposal which started out as family pictures ended in Mariah saying YES! The day was March 31, 2024 (Easter Sunday). Mariah's mom (aka Justin) had scheduled for a photographer to take "family pictures" since the entire family was going to be home. We were getting set up on the family farm where Mariah peeked at Justin's pants to see no ring box. Right before pictures started, the photographer mentioned Justin's phone in his pocket where he turned to hand it to the family. That is when the nerves really hit, and Mariah realized what "family pictures" was all about. You all know what happened here... he asked, and she said YES!!!! Fun facts from the weekend:- Mariah didn't see the ring box because his phone was covering it up.- Justin took Friday off to drive from Grand Island to WaKeeney to ask for Mariah's parents blessing, back to Grand Island, and then back to WaKeeney to start Easter weekend. Nothing like a 9-hour road trip!!- Coloring eggs will get Mariah's mom panicked that the dye won't come off.- Getting Mariah to paint her nails is a chore.- Mariah was confused why the family only worried about what she wore for pictures.- The family farm is where Mariah's mom grew up and where her brother, Lincoln and wife Allyssa currently live.

Favorite Activities Together

Hang with family &amp; friends, play with our dog Buddy, golf, watch football (Go Cats! Go Huskers! Go Irish!), travel to new places, and experiencing new restaurants.
