Our Wedding

We met during our freshman year of high school through a mutual friend and quickly became very close. Paxton, being the sports fan he is, was always at football, basketball, or volleyball games, and Mariah, the social butterfly, was often there too. Mariah would look for Paxton in the crowd to sit with him because she knew he’d make her feel welcome, and they always had a fun time together. Paxton would invite Mariah to bonfires and introduce her to his friends, while Mariah would invite Paxton to go hiking (even though he hated hiking—anything for love, right?). During our junior year, Paxton asked Mariah out on a date. Let’s just say, it didn’t start smoothly. Paxton was over an hour late because of work, and we missed the movie we had planned to see. When he finally opened the door, freshly showered and in neon green, knee-length gym shorts, Mariah couldn’t help but laugh—it’s a moment we’ll always remember. Since we were already close friends, we fell for each other quickly. A month later, on December 15, 2018, we officially started dating. We had so much fun experiencing high school together. We spent nearly every moment we could together. Paxton even joined show band for the show choir, and Mariah would visit Paxton’s house between her NICC and high school classes. In college, we attended different schools, which made things a bit tricky. Paxton initially tried to stay near Mariah, attending DMACC while she was at Iowa State, but later transferred to the University of Northern Iowa. Even with the distance, we made it work, finding ways to see each other every couple of weeks. Paxton proposed to Mariah during a family vacation in Mexico. The proposal happened on the balcony of our hotel room, right after Mariah jokingly “proposed” to him. She was completely shocked but thrilled to start this new chapter together. Looking back, we think we always knew we’d end up together. One of the earliest messages Mariah saved from Paxton back in 2017 has her calling him her “husband,” and later, he called her his “wife.” Now, we’re so excited to make it official and begin this next adventure as husband and wife.

Allie and Mariah both attended Western Dubuque High School. Their paths often crossed, from speech to working on different productions, but they didn't become close friends until 2020. Allie is an incredible cook, jack of all trades, and loves building community through curating unique experiences for people she loves. Allie currently works for the Telegraph Herald in Dubuque, IA in marketing.

David is Paxton's best friend of over 10 years. Starting in middle school, they would hang out almost every weekend, playing video games and watching shows together. During their college years they remained close and would visit each other often until David moved to Boston, Massachusetts to start his new job.

Taylor and Mariah lived next door to one another in Larch Hall at Iowa State University. Taylor loves to try new and unique things. She recently roller-bladed a marathon! She loves to travel, she dabbles in photography, and she is someone who appreciates small things. Taylor currently works as a nanny for a family in Minneapolis, Minnesota.

Jack and Paxton have known each other since middle school, but became close friends in high school. Jack and Paxton would go and get Buffalo Wild Wings almost every Thursday when he still lived in the area. Jack has since moved to Virginia where he is a successful clothing designer and entrepreneur. @onthebiasdesign @hrmtg.xyz

Alisa and Mariah became close friends during CHEM 177 together at Iowa State University. They became close friends and ended up living together sophomore, junior, and senior year. Alisa is one of the funniest people you will ever meet. She is incredibly creative, always has the best Halloween costumes, and is also one of the most thoughtful people ever. Alisa is an environmental engineer and lives in Madison, WI

Garrett and Paxton met during their first year at the University of Northern Iowa. When they would hang out they would watch TV, play video games, or go to the bars. Garrett has since left University of Northern Iowa to go to Palmer College to continue his education in becoming a chiropractor.

Rachael and Mariah met during intensity volleyball together and were friends at Beckman. Rachael is a great listener and an incredible friend. She is an interior designer and lives in Des Moines, IA.

Ayden is a sophomore in high school and is Paxton's youngest sibling. Ayden is a sports addict and there is not a part of the school year where he is not a part of a team at school whether that be football, wrestling, or track. Together, Ayden and Paxton often play games, watch football together, or get on each other's nerves for the fun of it.

Mady and Mariah first met when Evan brought her over to her apartment to hang out and play games. She was the only bridesmaid, except for Hailie Fuller, who knew Paxton was proposing ahead of time. Mady is very family-centered, and she brings the best out of Evan. Mady is a student at Iowa State University and will soon begin school for Physical Therapy.

Evan and Mariah did not get along for the first part of their lives. Mariah was upset that Evan was not a baby sister and despised him for it for a long time. As they got older, they became good friends. Evan followed Mariah to Iowa State, where he is getting a degree in Mechanical Engineering. Evan is a thinker, a tinkerer, a strategic board game player, and has a question or answer for everything. Evan works for John Deere out of Des Moines/Ames.

Hailie Fuller is the younger sister of Paxton and lives in Dubuque, IA. Hailie has been a thorn in Paxton's side for most of their lives. As they got older, they began to build a good relationship as siblings rather than fighting every day. Hailie has completed college and is now working full time in Dubuque. Hailie loves going to concerts, spending time with her friends, and spending time at home with her cat Robin.

Keaton has been friends with Paxton since freshman year of high school when they played football together. Since then, they have spent a lot of time hanging out and playing video games through college. Since completing college, Keaton has begun his career as a social worker.

Claire and Mariah were roommates from sophomore through senior year. They became good friends as they were the only roommates to stay awake past 9:30 during the weekdays. Claire is incredibly honest and very hardworking. She loves to bake, hike, and listen to country music. Claire Palmer is a Construction Engineer who lives in Richmond, Virginia.

Gavin and Paxton are only a few months apart in age so for as long as they can remember they have had countless sleepovers, hangouts, and caused plenty of trouble for their family growing up. Gavin is now a locator for Advanced Directional Drilling.

When Mariah came back home during a break from college, she was shocked to see a bunch of girl stuff invaded her bathroom. Growing up in a house of all brothers, this was very confusing. Since then, Mariah has learned to share and has grown to love Hailey, who dates Zachary Hoeger, her older brother. Hailey loves to have fun, has no filter, and is always ready to party. Hailey works at MercyOne in Dubuque as a lab technician.

Derek may be the funniest Hoeger sibling, if you can handle his absurd comedic style. He is an uncanny blend between the Hoeger and the Maiers families- full of raunchy and self-deprecating humor. Derek loves sports and fitness, and recently traveled to Poland to play soccer. Derek is a recent graduate from Beckman Catholic High School and will be attending Iowa State University for Electrical Engineering.

Zach is Mariah's older brother. Zach works as a mechanic at Tri-State Crane in Cedar Rapids, in addition to working on the farm. When they were younger, Mariah wanted to do everything Zach did, including reading all of the same books and doing his spelling words. She continues to look up to him to this day and is excited for him to be a part of this special day.

Gavin is the youngest Hoeger sibling. When he was younger, Mariah would only buy him birthday and christmas presents because he was her baby brother. Gavin is currently a sophomore at Beckman Catholic High School. He enjoys being in the plays, playing D&D, and watching YouTube.

Charlee is Paxton's cousin and is the twin sister of Everett. Charlee is a soccer player, dancer, funny, and loves Bluey. Charlee’s twin brother, Everett, it the Ring Bearer. Paxton is excited that Charlee is going to be in the wedding to help celebrate!

Everett is Paxton's cousin who is a fun, risk-taking, funny, and soccer-loving kid. Everett's twin sister, Charlee is the flower girl. Paxton is excited to have him in the wedding to help celebrate the big day!

Mike is the older brother of David Roth. Paxton was hanging out with Mike just as often as he was David since they were so close in age. When being around Mike they would talk about music, sports, games, and go golfing from time to time. Mike is now living in Chicago for his job.
