Our journey started on December 26, 2019. Our first date was at Jack Astor's (still a fav) and from the beginning, we knew something was different. Maybe it was a case of opposites attracting…and when we say opposites, we mean opposites. Leroy is Guyanese and wears his emotions, as many Guyanese do. Marian is Finnish by background and has a stoicism about her. But, we also had a lot in common, as we quickly learned.
Soon after we officially started dating, the world was thrown into a tailspin - we 'bubbled' together and boy did we learn a lot about each other….including that we were really enjoying our time together! So much so that we decided to embark on a roadtrip, to Tofino! That's right, 100+ hours in the car. But the sights we saw, people we met and memories we made will last a lifetime (kindof how some of those hours felt) ;) Since, we've really enjoyed traveling together, including to Leroy's native Guyana, Jamaica, Costa Rica and where L popped the question, Nicaragua!
We share a love of trying new things - including food (Leroy loves to try new recipes and is very good at it!), experiences (Marian has loved learning about Guyanese and West Indian cultures while Leroy has fully embraced Finnish sauna and cottage lifestyles).
Some say that if you can endure renovations together, you can survive anything. Together, we've conquered a worldwide pandemic, the death of a loved one, two home renovations, many backyard projects and several travel adventures. I think we are primed and ready for the rest of our lives and we can't wait to celebrate with you!
