Our Story

Still not convinced the universe had plans of wedding bells and baby bonnets for her, Mariana continued her focus on achieving new career heights. Continuously setting and accomplishing new goals while chat threads of cheesy openers, surface level conversations, and half hearted attempts to connect in person, sat dormant in her Hinge app. It had been 5 months since her friends finally got her to download that app and create a profile. “Baby Steps” they thought, as they tried to convince her to rejoin the dating world.&nbsp; Meanwhile, just 3 miles away in a building full of disgruntled salesmen, Thomas was ignoring yet another meeting filled with meaningless numbers as he swiped past person after person with the same surface level superficial answers and photos in their profile.&nbsp; “I swear if I see another group pic in front of that stupid Catch door, or one more selfie in front of that dumb Tulum statue…” But then, as if by fate, he came across the most simple unedited photo, the most beautiful woman he’d ever seen.&nbsp;But It wasn’t just her photo or her smile that caught Thomas’s attention. It was a line on Mariana’s profile, one that spoke to him in a way nothing else had: "We’re all a little messy”, she confessed in a prompt from her profile. &nbsp;It struck him deeply, resonating with his own journey of heartbreak and healing, and he decided to send a message—a thoughtful one, not the kind he’d been used to sending.&nbsp; “I could talk to you about this for hours… he wrote” Their conversation felt different from the start.There was a warmth, a curiosity, an ease that neither of them had expected. They talked about the challenges of life and how love wasn’t about perfection but about showing up, even when things got messy. They shared stories of their families—the laughter, the struggles, the way the family had shaped who they were. It quickly became clear they valued the same things: growth, love, vulnerability, trust, purpose. &nbsp;In each other, they saw a reflection of their own hopes and dreams, a vision that can’t be seen but can be felt.&nbsp; Over time, their connection deepened. With every message, every call, and eventually, every in-person moment, it became clear that something special was unfolding. It wasn’t just romance; it felt like finding a lifelong friend—someone who understood the parts of them that most people overlooked. And who also just so happened to grow up within just a few miles of each other, and who would eventually end up just 3 miles from each other some 20 plus years later. Yes, they discovered they had both been on similar paths, learning to embrace life’s imperfections and finding joy in the moments of growth. As they spent more time together, they realized that their bond was more than just attraction. It was rooted in shared values and a mutual desire to grow—both individually and together. Their relationship felt like home, a place where they could be fully themselves, imperfections and all. They were excited for what lay ahead, not just because of the love they had found, but because they knew they would support each other every step of the way. And so, as they looked toward the future, Mariana and Thomas were filled with a quiet, confident joy. They hadn’t just found love—they had found a partner in life’s journey, someone to walk beside them through the ups and downs, as they continued to grow and evolve together. It wasn’t perfect, and it can certainly be messy, but it was theirs, and that made it everything they had ever hoped for.

The most economical and simple way to get from Morelia Airport (MLM) to the hotel when arriving is via taxi. Taxis are about $500 Mexican pesos which is give or take $25 USD. Before you exit the Morelia Airport you will see a Taxi Kiosk. This is where you will get a ticket to board the taxi. You don't pay here. You will be asked where you are going. Have your hotel address ready and either say or write the word "AUTOPISTA" (toll road) so that they know to use this road to the city. The autopista is the faster option to get into Morelia.Once you have this ticket, you can get in the taxi line outside. This line is typically short and goes fast. Hand your ticket to your driver. You will pay your driver once you arrive to the hotel. The drive should take about 30minutes. More if there's traffic.It's best if you have Mexican pesos at arrival to pay for the taxi. But you can also exchange USD cash to MXN cash at the airport as well as use the ATM at the airport. Please reference the Q+A page for details on how to get Mexican pesos in the US. Another option is a private shuttle which costs about $2,000 Mexican pesos or about $100 USD.&nbsp;If you're interested in this option please contact Mariana or Thomas so that we can set this up with our wedding planner. Lastly, you can also inquire with your hotel, they might be able to offer airport pick up. Morelia is a small city and is very walkable. When not walking, taxis and uber are fast and easy options. Getting to Morelia

Thank you all for waiting so patiently, as some of us may know, Mexican culture does not carry the sense of urgency that we're used to. The hotel at the venue will not be ready in time for our wedding. Instead, we will be providing transportation to and from the wedding so please stay in the historic center so that you are within walking distance of the main pick up location. Things to do in Morelia

1. Explore the Morelia Cathedral and Historic CenterThe weather in May is warm and perfect for walking tours. Visit the Morelia Cathedral and enjoy its baroque architecture, especially during the evening when it’s lit up.Stroll through Plaza de Armas and enjoy street vendors, music, and local artisans. 2.
