As Told by Kenny

Our journey began during our Sophomore year at Francis Lewis High School. We were unassuming teenagers attending our basic classes, dilly-dallying during lunch and hanging out with friends. I was the big Star Wars-loving nerd and she, the quiet but extraordinarily talented girl. Together, we forged a beautiful friendship that grew into love. We even went to prom together! We graduated High School and attended programs at the same university, the City College of New York. Along the way, we've made incredible friends who have been able to witness the love that we have and continue to nurture. Maricella supported me all throughout medical school and pediatric residency; from my white coat ceremony to now, as I study for my General Pediatrics board examination. We moved into our first apartment together here in Brooklyn, living the dream of many on this planet. In the process, she has taught me a great deal about myself and has given me a happiness like no other. She is my love, always and forever. . I'm so excited for what lies ahead for both Mari and I as we continue to write our special story together.

I remember seeing Kenny for the first time upon entering our Science Research class in Freshmen year of High School. To say I was smitten is an understatement, there he was in his red South Pole sweater, hair spiked, glasses on in all his nerdiness. It wasn't until Spanish class that he finally noticed me and complimented&nbsp;my shirt, I was hooked. From that day on, our friendship grew and I knew that I could fall in love with him. He finally asked me to be his girlfriend in the Bay Terrace parking lot the summer of our Sophomore year&nbsp;and our love story began. Being shy little high schoolers, it took some time for us to express how we felt with each other. Our first Christmas as a couple, I gifted Kenny with a mistletoe and we shared our first kiss. It wasn't long before we both told each other, "I love you."&nbsp;We had the great fortune of being accepted to the same college and we learned the true struggles of balancing school work and our relationship. Through all of the papers, studying, exams and all-nighters, we supported one another and pushed each other to being our best selves. &nbsp;Throughout the years, I was able to admire Kenny's perseverance, determination and true dedication to pursuing his medical career. I could not be more proud of the Pediatrician he has become and I look forward to where this path will take him. I knew in my heart that until he was where he wanted to be in his career that he would take that next step in our journey. I waited somewhat patiently and I am so glad I did. The day Kenny proposed to me was one of the best days of my life. Being in Brooklyn only made it that much more special because this will always be the place where we shared our first home together. The image of him down on his knee, tears in his eyes, will stay with me forever, similar to the image I have of the first time I laid eyes on him. I look forward to seeing&nbsp;what the future has in store for us, all I know is I cannot wait to officially be his wife.&nbsp;

Requirements

​Below are a list of requirements to safely attend our wedding:

Our venue has recently advised us that testing & contact tracing are no longer required to attend our wedding.&nbsp;

Both the church and our venue have&nbsp;currently adapted the new CDC guidelines regarding face masks:&nbsp;- Fully vaccinated people can resume activities without wearing a mask or physically distancing- CDC recommends that individuals who are not&nbsp;fully vaccinated&nbsp;continue to wear a mask

For Guests Traveling to New York

Domestic Travelers

Domestic travel is defined as travel lasting 24 hours or longer to states or US territories other than contiguous states (i.e., Pennsylvania, New Jersey, Connecticut, Massachusetts, and Vermont).&nbsp;Travelers must fill out the&nbsp;<a href="https://forms.ny.gov/s3/Welcome-to-New-York-State-Traveler-Health-Form" target="_blank">NYS Department of Health traveler health form</a>

There are generally&nbsp;no quarantine, work furlough, or testing requirements&nbsp;for asymptomatic domestic travelers.

International Travelers

CDC and NYS recommend&nbsp;delaying&nbsp;international travel until the traveler is fully vaccinated.

International travelers&nbsp;must comply&nbsp;<a href="https://www.cdc.gov/coronavirus/2019-ncov/travelers/testing-international-air-travelers.html">CDC requirements</a>, which currently include proof of negative test or recent COVID recovery in order to board airplanes headed to the US.&nbsp;Travelers must complete the&nbsp;<a href="https://forms.ny.gov/s3/Welcome-to-New-York-State-Traveler-Health-Form" target="_blank">NYS Department of Health traveler health form</a>.

Currently CDC does not require quarantine, work furlough, or testing requirements&nbsp;for asymptomatic international travelers.

New York follows that recommendation with the following exceptions:- Fully vaccinated&nbsp;individuals who have not recovered from COVID-19 in the past 3 months are&nbsp;recommended to get tested 3-5 days&nbsp;after arrival in New York from international travel.- All unvaccinated international travelers&nbsp;who have not recovered from COVID-19 in the past 3 months&nbsp;are recommended&nbsp;to get tested 3-5 days after arrival in New York, consider non-mandated self-quarantine (7 days if tested on day 3-5, otherwise 10 days), and avoid contact with people at higher risk for severe disease for 14 days, regardless of test result.
