HersMy father said— ‘Find someone who would take care of you wholeheartedly. It will make me feel better knowing someone is there beside you, given the distance between us.’Thus, I gave online dating another chance and found a guy whose name I liked. ‘Pierre’. Hmmm.Read his profile.Grammar? Check.Looking for relationship? Check.Interests? Check.Photos? Check.And so, I swiped right. It took around three weeks exchanging messages with him before I said yes to our first date. We decided to have a Sunday brunch date on the 29th of May in a coffeeshop followed by lunch in a French restaurant just beside it. I clearly remember Pierre being 10 minutes late on that date. He was sweating and out of breath from all the rushing and cycling. To my surprise, two piercing blue eyes met my gaze followed by a shy smile. He was apologetic but I was just glued to his eyes already in that moment.Pierre had the most genteel demeanor, such sweetness and calmness I have never known. Definitely not from a loud Filipina girl who is often mistaken to be angry just by the tone of the voice. He may be an opposite of my personality at times, but thankfully he has unwavering patience and softheartedness. God knows he will need these if he wants to spend a lifetime with me.With Pierre, I found the calm in my inner storms and worries. He balances out the extremes in my character and he amplifies the growth and joy I have in life by making me experience the world, one country at a time.With that one swipe, I wouldn't have known that my life will never be the same again. No more of those lonely thoughts of being alone. I finally have found my person, my confidante, my lover, my everything. The man that I have fervently prayed for is here to stay. Not a perfect man, but the perfect man for me. HisThere was a time when I kept thinking I'd rather be happier on my own. Still, my inner voice kept telling me: 'Keep the door open as you wouldn't want to miss a lifetime opportunity if the one for you ever existed'.My amazing saviour sis Emilie became my life coach in this process. At first, I was reluctant with the idea of online dating and rapidly became less pro-active. After a time, I finally noticed a potential radiant soul with a French name 'Marie', who seemed to enjoy:Traveling // checkNature // checkFood // checkWhose online appearance and vibe felt positive // checkAnd who was searching for a 'partner in crime' // checkAnd so, for this 'perle rare', I didn't just swipe right but I sent her one of my few available super likes (I was determined). I immediately wanted to get to know her. I didn't give up and after a couple of weeks, she finally accepted. I did not want to hope too much yet. I just arrived a bit late and said hi. Her presence felt very warm and welcoming. It was surprisingly super natural to talk to her and she really made me feel home, something I experienced for the first time in this process. Plus, she had such a unique charm. Happy, confident, calm and hopeful, I had a very good feeling and I did my best to give our connection a good go.Ever since, life together has confirmed that she is the one for me. She has just brought up a new version of me that makes me want to keep going through life now stronger than ever. She even gave me confidence to the extent of wanting to marry her, build a family together and ultimately be a good and caring life companion to her. With that one swipe, I was able to find my treasure. Her energy, creativity and will power also really complement mine. My dream of finding a true life companion has finally come true and I am very grateful. She is my lifetime gift and I want to keep cherishing and celebrating our love forever.

Elise has been with me from the horrors of Covid, the adjustments of a new working environment, the stress of the course and job promotion, the elation of being engaged and the ups & downs of wedding planning.  She is that person who can light up a room with her presence just like how she elevates my mood whenever we are together.

A good colleague, great friend and best 'brother from another mother'. As I navigated my early years in the UK away from my family, I found comfort and solace from Lem.  He was there to literally catch me when I fall when I got wasted, to share boisterous laughs with in the middle of the nights and to cry on because of my vulnerabilities.  I have known him not quite long but he has etched his mark in my life that symbolically marrying me to the love of my life is fitting for him.

Flo has been another blessing coming into our lives. He is such a kind, humble and cool person! We could have been brothers, if you just ignore our appearance. We've been going along so well together since the beginning. Distance has never been a barrier to our consideration for each other. He has also brought my dearest sister pure happiness and even a wonderful baby. I am so proud to have him as my brother in law. He really rocks!

I have watched Arsène growing up by my side since he was two. He has always been a little brother to Emilie and I. He has been part of our lives all along and he is another great person we share so many good memories with. My man Gaëtan was the first person I talk to before having our first class at high school. We became besties ever since. We have lived apart since we started at university and yet, he is one of the rare persons I really kept in touch with. As many in their teenage years, we of course have many embarrassing memories we might not share here, but really memorable ones. At some points, we both ended up living in the UK. He is now back in France but it doesn't matter where, we'll always be the same to each other.

When I moved to my second house in Sweden, there was this French boy living in the room next to mine. He was such a kind person and turned out to work in the same department as me. We ended up bonding a lot together and sharing food and French boy trips all over the country. We shared many memories together and I wish to keep him by my side as we get older. I know I can always count on tonton Mika to be there, as he has been even in my lowest moments!

We highly recommend staying in BnBs in Monticchiello as it is 4-5 min drive from the venue. You can, of course, stay in different towns or cities as long as you are happy to arrange transportation back after the wedding activities.

April 13, 2024. Our pre-wedding photos gifted to us last Christmas 2023 by Rich Foister (photographer) in Cambridge. The shoot was done on a perfect spring morning around the Cambridge city centre. Making memories in the place where we met and will be building our future lives.

October 22, 2023. The morning after the proposal. Our friend, PHL, took some photos of us in the mini 'forest' where the proposal was done. Afterwards, we drove around Gloucestershire and ended up in Symonds Yat, overlooking Wales (another country in the UK). This was the day we started calling loved ones to tell them the good news. Such a beautiful day.

July 03, 2024. Valensole, Provence. A perfect summer day surrounded by oceans of lavender, clary sages and sunflowers. We did not mind being drowned by the beauty of these blooms. Grateful for Papa Serge and Maman Annick for driving us all around the plateau and for capturing such loved up moments.

Rustic, minimalist and warm. These are the three words we have envisioned on what our dream wedding would be. First and foremost on that vision is to find a venue that will forever hold a piece of our hearts. So… we decided to just do it! With the blessing and love from our parents, we literally tied the knot in picturesque Scotland. Fun fact: Scotland is the only country in UK that allows legal marriages anywhere (mountains, beaches, castles-- name it), as long as the ceremony is done by registered celebrants. We are still celebrating with all of you in Italy. Just doing the legal bit hassle-free already.
