Flight FAQs

What airport should I fly to?

Da Nang International Airport is closest to Hoi An.

What else do I need to know about flying to Hoi An?

There are no direct flights from Sydney or Melbourne so you will need to make at least one stop. Vietjet is similar to Jetstar and Vietnam Airlines is like Qantas.

How do I get from Da Nang Airport to Hoi An?

Some hotels offer a free shuttle service. Otherwise, download Grab (similar to Uber) and book a Grab from the airport. This will be your best option to avoid haggling with a taxi driver and paying double. The ride to Hoi An is around 45mins.

What about my passport?

You'll need at least 6 months validity on your passport.

Visa FAQs

Do I need an eVisa?

Australian citizens must have an approved eVisa before travelling to Vietnam. Apply online here: https://evisa.gov.vn/

How long does it take to apply for an eVisa?

eVisas can take up to 4 business days to process. We'd recommend applying 2-3 weeks in advance in case there are any issues.

How long is my eVisa valid for?

The eVisa allows for a stay of up to 90 days.

How much does the eVisa cost?

The eVisa fee is 25 USD for a single-entry visa / 50 USD for a multiple-entry visa. Most guests will just need a single-entry visa unless you're planning on leaving and coming back within 90 days.

Should I print my visa?

As there have been reports of difficulties in accessing eVisas during airport check-in, once granted, print a hard copy of the visa approval document.

What else do I need to know?

Any errors or name omissions (like missing a Middle Name) may result in an additional fee, refusal of boarding, or refusal of entry on arrival. You may be charged a significant fee at check-in or on arrival to correct the visa error.

Getting around FAQs

What's the best way to get around Vietnam?

Download Grab (just like Uber) before you leave Australia and link your card in case you need to receive a text verification code. Grab has options to book a ride on a motorbike (if you're feeling adventurous!) or a car if you have luggage.

How do I get to the welcome party and wedding ceremony?

Please arrange your own transport to and from both events. Grab will usually be the easiest to book (just like Uber) and fairly cheap. If you are staying at Hoiana Resort, they may offer free shuttles into Old Town however you will need to check with Resort for timings.
