Our Story - Ryan

Falling in love with Marina was the easiest choice of my life! I met Marina at our college group when we locked eyes from across the room, I could just tell there was something about her. I was too scared to go and talk to her for a while until one night at the group I had enough courage to start a conversation with her when I overheard her mention one of my favorite movies to someone, that movie being "How to Train Your Dragon." I walked up to her and we talked about this movie for a while and I could tell this was going to be a good friendship. Time went on, and I noticed myself wanting to be around her more and more and wanting to take care of her every need. I noticed how she had the same heart for serving in ministry as me and how we had so so soooo many similar interest in our life. So... I finally asked her out on a date! It went great but it wasn't time yet for us to fully be together so I waited so patiently, still taking care of her and always making sure to talk to her all the time to get to know her. Soon it became her asking me, "Hey so I need to get some things for serving at student camp, would you want to come with me?" Then it became a few really long deep talks, until it was time for us to be together and the rest is history. I've enjoyed every single minute growing in love with my best friend and I look forward to a life time more. I love you Marina!!

Ryan swept me off my feet. I met Ryan when my sister made me check out our church college ministry. From the first few times we interacted, he made it clear who he was. Caring, funny, and we had a lot of random similarities. What's more than that, I could see his character on display. I knew he liked me early on, but when I saw that he truly cared and was a good man was when one week at groups, he sat next to me at dinner and then took all my trash for me when the meal concluded. Week after week, I found him coming up to talk to me and I found it being such easy and fun and meaningful conversation. I found myself anxiously looking forward for any opportunity when I got to see him for the slightest amount of time. In those days, I was dead set on a direction in life I felt called to, and I thought me and my Ryan would be worlds away within a few years. So through a tearful spring and summer, I tried to let go of the feelings. But God kept bringing me back to him. At summer camp that year, God revealed to my heart that I needed to stop basing everything in life on plans I had made. God gave me so much peace about Ryan. One day I told him I was ready and without hesitation he grabbed my hand, and we've been pursuing each other with commitment and compassion ever since. I love the deep close friendship we have shared, all the silly laughter, and the way God has used him to help change, heal, and grow me spiritually. Ryan Landry, you have my heart forever!
