OUR STORY

People always say you won't meet the love of your life at a bar but we couldn't disagree more. We met on a Saturday night that started like any other. Kaleb went out to Whiskey River to hangout with a buddy. Marina had spent the week working on a pipeline and decided that if she didn't go out to dance and drink she might go fully feral. After locking eyes across the bar, Marina waited for the handsome red head to come ask her to dance. And she waited, and she waited, and she waited some more till finally she finished her beer and walked up to him and asked him to dance herself. We danced and the night ended with Kaleb asking Marina for her number. After that we went on a few dates but Marina had to return home to North Carolina. We both thought we would never see each other again. A month later Marina was heading to College Station for work and Kaleb was doing a flyover for the Texas A&amp;M and University of New Mexico football game. We reconnected and Marina got to spend the night watching her Lobos loose but it was all well in the end as we were able to mourn the loss together burning down Northgate. After that we just couldn't stop calling each other and finding ways to visit each other despite the distance between us. Trips&nbsp; to Abilene, North Carolina, Kansas City, Houston and New Orleans kept us connected. One of us would travel to where the other was working whenever we had the time. Somewhere along the line we went from strangers dancing at a bar to being engaged at a Yak ranch. It has been our greatest adventure growing together as a couple and we are so excited to see what God has planned for our lives together.

Ashe County is home to numerous airbnbs and cabin rentals. We definitely recommend that guests reserve accommodations at one of these cabins. However if a hotel is more your style the Holiday Inn Express in West Jefferson is an excellent choice. We will have a block of rooms reserved in the coming months. we also recommend The Park Vista Motor Lodge on The Blue Ridge Parkway.The airport in Charlotte is 2 hours away and Greensboro Airport is about 1.5 hours away.***Remember REAL ID for flying is going into effect on May 7th. This is before the wedding. You must have REAL ID on your driver's license to use it to fly or bring another government ID like a Military ID or passport.***

Ashe County is nestled in the Blue Ridge Mountains and has plenty to do when not celebrating with us! If you decide to arrive a few days before or stay a few days after the wedding there will be more than enough to do to keep you entertained. A few of our favorite things to do include hiking on Mt. Jefferson, tubing or kayaking down the New River, and exploring the High Country. If you are looking for shopping, visiting downtown West Jefferson is a must. The town is filled with local businesses, including the world-famous Ashe County Cheese. If you are looking for a place to unwind after a day of adventure one of our favorite places to go is Molly Chomper Hard Cider in Lansing. (Pro tip make sure you stop at Pie On the Mountain and pick up a pizza to eat with your cider. If they are still not open, the Liars Bench has great sandwiches.) Another Lansing favorite is visiting the Old Orchard Creek General Store and grabbing a latte to drink while walking around the Lansing Creeper Trail Park.
