Brian and Marisa have had two separate anniversaries for the past six years. After meeting online through OKCupid and connecting over John Hughes films, they showed up at a Chapters Starbucks on January 9, 2015, both unintentionally wearing Superhero T-Shirts (Brian in Green Lantern, Marisa in Captain America)! After Brian kept “missing his mouth” trying to drink his Chai Latte, Marisa knew there was something about him that set him apart from all the rest. This eventually became the “Marisanniversary”, but the “Brianniversary” came roughly six months later. FINALLY on June 18, 2015, Brian realized that Marisa was the one and asked her to go steady after a Burlesque-Themed Adult Night at TELUS World of Science. Six years and hundreds of amazing and unique dates, trips, theme parties, and concerts later, Brian asked Marisa to marry him on July 10, 2021. Marisa’s mom and uncles were in on the elaborate scheme to get Marisa to the Roman Room in Fantasyland Hotel for the big surprise…and they definitely got her good!

Although they took their time getting to the engagement, Marisa and Brian aren’t wasting any time getting to the altar! They’re getting married on the exact date and at the same location where it all began – TELUS World of Science Edmonton on June 18, 2022 – Yes, the “Brianniversary” ultimately wins the battle. Because this couple can’t resist a good theme, the whole event is called “A Night In Shining” – playing on both a Stars/Space motif and Brian’s screen name from OKCupid - “AKnightInShining”. They’re even tying in where Brian proposed by staying at Fantasyland Hotel for their Wedding Night, but this time in the “Space Room”, of course! Marisa and Brian are so excited to share this next chapter of their love story with all of their closest friends and family…after all, it’s been written in the stars!
