Frustrated with the modern dating scene, Matthew and Marisol registered for Ave Maria Singles (Catholic online dating site) within 3 months of each other.In an effort to not participate in the problem of online dating, Marisol took the initiative to reach out to as many users as she could. She beat Matthew to the like button: the first of many surprises for him.Matthew was in search of a Traditional Catholic wife willing to stay at home, homeschool, and get her hands dirty on a Nebraskan homestead.Marisol had always hoped to be homeschooling mother, but until Matthew, had assumed it would come to nothing more than a fantasy. And Matthew's dream of supporting his family with the homestead ignited Marisol's long lost childhood dream of the same.A month and a half after their first online message, Matthew had asked permission to court Marisol and she was on a solo flight to Nebraska (much to the chagrin of kith and kin concerned about catfishing axe murderers).2 weeks and a poem later, Marisol knew God had shown her the man she was going to marry.From August to March, they made three more week-long trips to meet family and friends over board games and books. They grew closer to each other and stronger in virtue.Until June 2025, on the last day of their fifth visit, when Matthew took Marisol to a lovely wooden gazebo. There he knelt on the right (left) knee, and by the light of 7 candles, he offered a gold and ruby replacement for the silver claddagh he had gifted her on their very first visit.
