We started dating our senior of high school - December 1, 2019. Our first date was at Panera where we talked about literally everything- our families, our interests, our faith. Our second date was at the movies to see Frozen 2 and we shared a box of Mike&Ikes. We were probably laughing louder than any of the kids in the theatre. After that we walked into Jordan’s house and he said, “Hey dad, I know I’m not supposed to have a girlfriend during basketball season but…” and pointed at me!!! It was a joke between him and his dad and we all thought that it was hilarious. After that, our senior year was so special because we got to do it together.
I asked Jordan to the court warming dance in front of the whole school after his basketball team just won a home game. We went to the dance with our best friends. June 27, 2020 we went to the drive in and I played a song for him that I dreamt would be our first dance song. Well, my dream is coming true because we stuck with that song. :) During Covid, we FaceTimed everyday and Jordan virtually asked me to prom. We had a magical backyard prom. Then, we got to graduate together.
We both decided to go to different colleges, 2hrs and 20min apart, but who’s counting. Jordan went to William Jewell College to play basketball and get his engineering degree. I went to Pittsburg State University to run cross country and track and get my communication degree. After all these years we realized that God brought us where we are for a reason, but that didn’t mean it was easy! We got the opportunity to grow in our personal relationships with Christ which then has strengthened our relationship with each other - keeping Jesus at the center of it all.
Jordan started a small group at his school called Pursue. I serve at a local church, singing on the worship team and helping at our college and youth ministries. We got really lucky with our teammates and friends. We feel very blessed and that’s why we couldn’t pass up one more year of competing. We are in our last year of college - which also means our last year of long distance!!
September 21, 2024 the Jermain family invited me to family photos - or at least I thought. Turns out Jordan set up a beautiful pop- up picnic. We sat down and he played a video (inspired by my media account) where he walked through his proposal process- when he asked my dad and bought the ring. There were videos of us growing up together and our parents wishing us well. He proposed and of course I said YES!!! It was perfect.
That day was the start of our new season of life - planning for our forever. The little bit of long distance pain…will soon turn into our lifetime of happiness. And we couldn’t be more excited to finally start our lives together.
