Our Story

John and I met at Abilene Christian University. We were both involved in the various clubs and activities that our Biology Department put on. We were casual friends, even working together in a research lab for a while.Fast forward to the fall of 2017, we attended several of our social club's events together and started developing a liking for each other. John first asked me out for a date on November 13th, 2017, and we began dating, knowing very well that I would be leaving for a Study Abroad trip to Oxford, England the next semester. Fortunately, we survived that first round of long distance, John even came to see me in London! In the years since, John started his medical school journey and is nearing graduation from McGovern Medical School in May, 2022.While long distance has been a part of our story, it is not what defines us, and we are so grateful to be where we are today. We cannot wait to see you at our wedding!

Fredericksburg is a rich community with a variety of attractions. This area of Texas is known as the Hill Country, and Fredericksburg is particularly well known for its vineyards. If you have time, we highly recommend going on a tasting, visiting a vineyard, or simply taking a stroll and window shop through the historic Main Street!

This Vineyard is near and dear to our hearts. On November 14, 2020 John proposed to Marissa in the courtyard at Baron's Creek Vineyards!

Perspective Cellars is one of our go to spots for a laid back and cozy Fredericksburg Winery experience! If you are looking for a tasting and delicious food pairings, try this place out!

About 17 miles north of Fredericksburg lies Enchanted Rock, a pink granite mountain that is a terrific destination for hiking, camping, and sight seeing!

Need a coffee fix? Caliche Coffee is a wonderful spot to stop by and relax, and have a taste of some locally roasted brews!

If you have a sweet tooth, like John and Marissa do, we highly recommend trying out Pritzer Sweet Shop. This small bakery is a great spot to take a shopping break on Main Street, and carries a variety of classic and German baked goods!

Things to Do

Olive and I have been fast friends since we were very young. It is rare to find such close lifelong friends such as this one, and she is treasured by everyone she touches. I even had the honor of being delivered to my engagement by this special friend!

Chloe and I are such good friends that in Pre-K, we had to be separated by the teacher for being "too chatty." Not much has changed since then. Chloe is one of those friends that is always there when you need her, and despite long distance friendship she always makes loved ones feel special!

Julia and Marissa grew up together in Hamilton and remain friends to this day. Julia is such a blessing and wonderful friend to have had the chance to grow up with!

Siarah and I met during our freshman year at ACU and I would not have survived my first year without this sweet friend! She taught me so much and I am so grateful for her continued friendship!

Denise and I met in the biology department study rooms, and we quickly became good friends while at ACU. We  were flatmates for a semester, went on mission trips together, and have been through so much since those times. Denise is such a wonderful soul, and I am so lucky to have her by my side during this exciting time!

Lezlei I met during our Study Abroad trip to Germany! We wondered how on earth we hadn't met sooner, as we became friends instantly! I love spending time with Lez and her mom, and am so grateful for her friendship!

Grace is the sister of the Groom, and we were honored to have her at our engagement!  She has been incredibly welcoming and loving, and I can't wait to get to know her better!

Channing is my sweet cousin! She is exactly twelve years younger than me and I had the honor of holding her the day she was born! I love spending time learning about horses with her, and practicing the flute together!
