Things to Do

Eat and Drink around Rochester

Genesee Brew House. Home of the famous Genny Cream, plus some small-batch beers only available on-site. There are great views of the High Falls of the Genesee River.

Three Heads Brewing. A Rochester area craft beer staple.

Swiftwater Brewing. Good beer, made gluten-free - you can bet we love it!

Rochester Beer Park. Tons of good beer, lawn games when weather permits, and plenty of food available.

Dinosaur Bar-B-Que. Walking distance from the hotel, this barbecue joint is a local favorite!

City of Rochester Public Market. Open Saturdays from 6:00 am to 3:00 pm, a great spot for breakfast or lunch.

Strangebird. Tasty, locally-sourced food at a brewery close to the hotel.

Radio Social. This bar offers food and drinks along with bowling lanes and indoor/outdoor games!

Wegmans. If you've met anyone from Western NY, you've likely heard them brag about Wegmans. A Rochester staple for groceries, this is a great place to stop in for some quick food on the go. Also check out their restaurant, Amore, at the East Avenue location.

Hiking / Outdoors

Mendon Ponds Park, Honeoye Falls, NY. A favorite of ours - we got our engagement photos taken here! Lots of beautiful trails around the water.

Highland Park, Rochester, NY. In addition to the great hiking, also check out the Lamberton Conservatory inside the park to see a bunch of exotic plants and animals.

Corbett's Glen Nature Park, Brighton, NY. A more relaxed hike through the woods with a nice view of waterfalls.

Ellison Park, Rochester, NY. Nice trails through woodland and floodplain habitat.

Erie Canal. Traversable by foot, bike, or boat, the historic Erie Canal winds through a number of towns in the Greater Rochester area. Our favorite place to experience the canal is in the town of Pittsford, where you can stroll along the canal and pop into cafes, gift shops, and breweries. For a more in depth view of the canal, consider a tour on the Sam Patch.

Shopping

Powers Farm Market, Pittsford, NY - A beloved Rochester fall tradition, especially in October.

City of Rochester Public Market, Rochester, NY - Open Saturdays from 6:00 am to 3:00 pm.

History / Museums

George Eastman House. This museum dedicated to the creator of Kodak (a Rochester company) is the world's oldest photography museum, set on a beautiful estate.

Rochester Museum and Science Center. Plenty of cool science exhibits - there's a planetarium next door.

Mount Hope Cemetery. A beautiful, historic cemetery that is the resting place of Susan B. Anthony and Frederick Douglass.

Memorial Art Gallery. A great stop for any art lovers! The MAG offers both permanent and temporary exhibits, as well as an outdoor sculpture garden.

Have a car / around a little longer?

A few suggestions for those around a little longer or wanting to get out of the city.

Niagara Falls, US-Canada Border. About an hour and a half drive (75 miles) from Rochester, it's more than close enough for a short trip before or after the wedding. Our tip - bring your passport and cross to the Canadian side for a better view of the falls!

Montezuma National Wildlife Refuge, Seneca Falls, NY. 45 minutes from Rochester.

Letchworth State Park, Livingston County, NY. 45 minutes from Rochester, and as Marissa will tell you, it is 'famous' as the "Grand Canyon of the East".

Wine tasting in the Finger Lakes. Lots of great vineyards across this region of the state!
