Mark and Marcail's paths first crossed in the fall of 2021, when they began attending Cairn University, Mark going to school for music, and Marcail going to school for elementary education. They had a freshman seminar course together in which they both noticed each other, but neither showed affection for the other. Mark had the idea that Marcail was a socially awkward, homeschooled, dork(totally not true...hehe), and Marcail had the idea that Mark was an edgy teen trying to be cool(also totally not true...hehe). They finished their freshman year having taken two courses together, but not really sharing a word at all. This changed in their junior year of college.
Mark and Marcail shared two more Bible courses together their junior year, in which they began talking to each other. Mark had a growing attraction towards Marcail, and he also noticed her quiet attentiveness and insightful comments in their Bible courses they shared, which he really appreciated. Mark began asking one of Marcail's friends about Marcail's personality and relationship status. This soon landed him in some group hangouts together with her, where they began talking. Shortly after, Mark asked Marcail to go on a date together, to which she said yes.
Their first date was shared at a Mr. Wish in Levittown, Pennsylvania, sharing boba tea and talking about life together for about four hours straight. Needless to say, they hit it off and were very interested to learn more about each other. Marcail also confessed on this date that she really liked Mark. Marcail agreed to a second date, which they shared at Outback Steakhouse. A few weeks later, they had another date at the Sunrise Diner where they discussed what they wanted as a couple. Together they read through what the Bible says about marriage in Ephesians 5, and they agreed that if they were to move forward with a relationship, that marriage with Christ at the center would eventually be what they would be headed towards if things kept working out. Since they found agreement on this and agreed to continue to pursue Christ in their relationship with each other, Mark asked Marcail to be his girlfriend, to which she said, "I've been waiting for you to ask me!" Shortly after on a cold Valentine's Day, Mark told Marcail that he loves her, to which she said again, "I've been waiting for you to say that!" They shared their first kiss with each other in the Cairn University parking lot before dropping Marcail off at her dorm, which was nearly interrupted by campus security driving past Mark's car(...yikes). Mark also passed the test of meeting all of Marcail's six younger brothers, and actually getting along with them! Both Mark and Marcail are continuously blessed by the loving relationship that each has with the other's family.
Mark and Marcail became engaged on June 11, 2024, when Mark asked Marcail to marry him in front of a waterfall at Rickett's Glen State Park in PA. Was their dating story a quick one? Yes. Would they change it? Absolutely not. Their desire is that Christ would be at the center of their relationship, in dating, in engagement, and in their marriage. With this in mind, they know that while their marriage won't be picture perfect, they have all that they need in Jesus Christ, to which they are eternally grateful that they were brought together by Him. They look forward with much excitement to their wedding day on May 24, 2025.
