Mark and Sally met at the University of Minnesota in the fall of 2018 while living in the same dorm. Sally's roommate had a few classes with Mark and ended up introducing them. The duo quickly became friends and began to spend quite a bit of their free time together. Right before the semester break, they were officially dating.

Fast forward to the end of the school year and Sally moved back home for the summer. During this time, they would make the trip to each other's hometowns to visit until their reunion in the fall. Much like their first year of school, the second year was filled with plenty of time spent together.

It was after their third year of school that they both decided to live on campus over the summer for work. At the end of the summer Mark moved home as he had graduated, and the campus lease was over. Sally had one more year left, so Mark would drive downtown during the week and on weekends to spend time together.

After graduation, Sally landed a job in Minnesota and the two moved in together. A year later they adopted their dog, Nacho.

The following summer the three of them embarked on their first camping trip as a trio. That weekend was when Mark proposed.
