We are excited about you joining us in Washington, DC, this summer for our wedding. If you have never been to DC before, there is so much to see and do. And, more importantly, majority of the museums and sites are free. Here’s a few of our favorite recommendations:

US Capitol:

To avoid the lines, recommend booking a tour of the US Capitol in advance. If Congress is in session, you can also obtain gallery passes from your Member of Congress' office to view live activity in the House and Senate.

Book a Tour | U.S. Capitol - Visitor Center

Smithsonian Museums:

Air & Space

Tickets are required. June tickets have not been

released yet for the general public.

Visit the National Air and Space Museum

Natural History

National Portrait Gallery

American History

Native American History

Botanical Gardens

National Archives

Tickets are not required for the National Archives,

but advanced tickets can be reserved.

Tickets | National Archives Museum

Washington Monument:

Tickets are required for the Washington Monument. Order tickets in advance at

Fees & Passes - Washington Monument (U.S. National Park Service)

White House:

Getting tickets for the White House require individuals to submit a request through their Member of Congress (House of Representatives or Senate). If you have questions about who your Representative or Senator is you can find them at Find Your Representative | house.gov.

Visit The White House – The White House

Arlington National Cemetery:

A visit to Washington, DC, would not be complete without stepping on the hollowed grounds of Arlington National Cemetery, where you can view President John F. Kennedy's eternal flame and witness the changing of the guard at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier.

If you are making the trip, take some extra time to explore the city and sites. Recommend bringing comfortable shoes…DC is a walking city.

Again, while all of the museums and sites are free admission, a few do require tickets for admission. Tickets do book up quickly. If you are interested in touring the White House, Washington Monument, or Air & Space Museum, advanced tickets are required.

Traveling Around Washington, DC:

From the hotel, hop on the Green Line metro two stops to Lafayette Plaza. There you will be within steps of the Air & Space Museum, Botanical Gardens, Native American History Museum, and Congress. Nothing beats the walk down the mall from Congress to the Lincoln Memorial. You will pass multiple Smithsonian museums, Washington Monument, World War II Memorial, and Vietnam and Korean War Memorials before reaching the Lincoln Memorial.

We truly hope you enjoy your time in Washington, DC.
