Our Story

Almost 9 years ago, Mark and Sydney attended Indiana University of Pennsylvania, where freshman year they lived in the same dorm, Elkin Hall. Mark was on the 2nd floor and Sydney was on the 5th. One of Sydney's friends had met a guy on the 2nd floor and started visiting him often, when Sydney tagged along she starting noticing this curly haired guy with diamond ear piercings (yes this was Mark) and thought he was cute! As more of their friends started hanging out together they started seeing each other at parties and other events. The first time Sydney and Mark spoke they were discussing songs to play at a party and every song that came on Mark would start dancing (we all know how Mark dances). That was the first moment Sydney knew Mark was someone who was always going to make her laugh. From there they spent more and more time together and eventually started dating that summer leading into Sophomore year. Their relationship had its ups and downs especially in the midst of finding their way through college. But no matter what happened or after time apart Mark and Sydney always made their way back to each other. They just simply knew they couldn't imagine their life without one another. Sydney graduated IUP, Mark stayed for a SUPER senior year and afterwards Mark followed Sydney down to Maryland where they spent a few great years on the bay. Towards the end of 2019 they knew they needed a change, they quit their jobs, packed their bags and moved down to Wilmington, North Carolina where they currently reside and in that first year they visited Savannah, Georgia. This is where Mark proposed. All day they bar hopped and drank on the streets (because Georgia open container law - why not) and ended up at an Oktoberfest down by the water. Mark was approached to participate in a stein holding competition where after a few seconds turned into a chugging competition (yes, chugging 32oz.). Mark lost but boy was he feeling it. This was not part of his plan. He had the ring in his pocket all day long and was now feeling a bit tipsy. Mark told Sydney we had to be at this fountain in this park around 4 o'clock in the afternoon. Mark isn't a planner so Sydney was suspicious. They walked up to the fountain and before you knew it Mark nervously was on one knee asking Sydney for her hand in marriage. But luckily he was tipsy! Sydney was absolutely blown away and may have said "FINALLY!" but of course she said yes. This story now leads us to this special day we can't wait to share with all of you!
