Our Love Story

Marlo and Steven’s love story began on February 3rd, 2024, at a Witness for Life event at Old St. Patrick’s Cathedral in New York. It was there that they first met, and Steven wasted no time in asking Marlo out.    Their first date took place on February 20th at the Harvard Club, and from then on, they made a habit of playing pickleball together. On April 6th, outside of St. Gregory the Great Church on their way to the Botanical Gardens to see the cherry blossoms, Steven asked Marlo to be his girlfriend.    For Marlo’s 23rd birthday on April 12, Steven released an album of music just for her, and they celebrated by going to see Aladdin on Broadway. A few weeks later, on April 23rd, after witnessing his friend’s wedding, Steven told Marlo that he loved her.    On May 5th, Marlo met Steven’s parents for the first time while celebrating his 32nd birthday. Then, on June 8th, Marlo reciprocated Steven’s feelings and told him she loved him. Later that month, on June 22nd, Steven traveled to Alabama to meet Marlo’s parents. Their love continued to deepen, and on August 3rd, 2024 Steven proposed at Old St. Patrick’s Cathedral, the very place where their journey began.

The Ave Maria Grotto was built by Brother Joseph Zoetti, a Bavarian hunchback monk, who created this brilliant work over a period of 50 years.&nbsp;The grotto includes some of the world’s most famous religious sites in miniature; St. Peter’s Basilica and old Bethlehem are among the detailed structures crafted of tile, pipe, shells and even coconuts.&nbsp;“Brother Joseph and the Grotto” is a recently released documentary that tells the story of the tiny monk’s life work.

The Vulcan in Birmingham, Alabama, is the largest cast-iron statue in the world and a prominent symbol of the city. Standing at 56 feet tall, it represents the Roman god of fire and forge, Vulcan, and was created for the 1904 St. Louis World's Fair. The statue overlooks the city from atop Red Mountain and is part of Vulcan Park and Museum, which offers stunning panoramic views of Birmingham. The statue celebrates the city's industrial history, particularly its prominence in iron and steel production.

Wedding Day Timeline

1:00- Wedding Ceremony

This will take place at the Cathedral of St. Paul in Birmingham. The address is 2120 Third Ave NBirmingham, AL 35203. The ceremony will last between one hour and an hour and a half. This is a traditional Catholic Wedding Mass. The timeline of the ceremony is as follows:- Arrival of Guests- Processional- Opening Prayer- Liturgy of the Word- Homily- Consent and Vows- Ring Exchange- Nuptial Blessing- Communion (only practicing Catholics in a state of grace may receive communion, more information on why in the Q + A section)- Closing Prayer- Recessional **Please be mindful to wear modest clothing to the church and bring a shawl or some covering if you feel that you may need it.

4:00- Cocktail Hour

The “Cocktail Hour” will take place at the reception venue at Pine Tree Country Club. The address is 5100 Pine Whispers Dr Birmingham, AL 35210. The drive from the Cathedral is about 20 minutes. There will most likely be a gap between the ceremony and the cocktail hour where you can feel free to go and grab coffee, freshen up at your hotel, or go and explore the city. This will give the couple and bridal party time to take photos with their family. There will be drinks and hors d’oeuvres served at this time. The couple will join for the reception dinner, but this is time for all of our guests to enjoy quality time together.

6:00- Reception Dinner  & Dancing

The Reception Dinner will also take place at Pine Tree Country Club. The address is 5100 Pine Whispers Dr Birmingham, AL 35210. There is plenty of parking. After the Grand Entrance, food will be served. There will be food served buffet style due to the amount of guests. Food will not be able to be served as a dinner service because it would be hard to keep warm for the amount of people. On your invitation when you scan the QR code, there should be an option to request any food accommodations: gluten free, dairy free, vegan, vegetarian, kosher, etc. Please include any allergies and we will be sure to accommodate you.

11:00- Send Off

At this time we will line up and wish the couple a blessed future together! After the couple has left, the cleanup process at the venue will begin.
