For the most part, many people meet their significant others at church, through a friend or even just out in public. Not for us. We met through a dating website — which some would consider to be the new norm. We matched on Bumble, a dating app that allows the woman to make the first contact!

Once Corey saw on Marquita’s Bumble profile that her ideal date would involve doing something active, he immediately suggested we go bowling! Our first date was on April 23, 2023 at Vestavia Bowl and we’ve been bowling once a month ever since!

After meeting in person, we discovered we had already met in November of 2019. At the time, Corey was the head girls basketball coach at Hueytown High School while Marquita was the assistant coach for Pinson Valley High. Corey won that match up by a landslide — at least that’s what he recalls! Needless to say, it is our competitive spirits that draw us to one another.

What’s more important, we both love God and spend time with Him individually and as a couple —understanding that He is the main source of our relationship.
