An Unlikely Beginning... Marta and Tim first crossed paths on November 20th, 2020, at a Disco Donnie Presents drive-in dance music concert experience at Fair Park in Dallas. The event offered a "new way" for fans to enjoy their favorite artists while staying socially distant—because nothing says 2020 like a dance party from the comfort of your own car.

We were there to see the DJ NGHTMRE, but with COVID turning everything into a bit of a nightmare, the night wasn’t exactly the "dream" we had in mind. However, as fate would have it, our paths crossed again later that evening at our friend Eric’s birthday party.

While the night was filled with energy, bass drops, and face-melting dubstep beats, we didn’t exactly hit it off right away. Marta made a memorable comment that left Tim a little freaked out. Later, she returned the favor by completely ignoring him. But Tim, being persistent (and a glutton for awkward situations), wasn’t ready to give up just yet. That’s when things took a turn—what started as a nightmare became a dream.

Tim, fueled by his endless curiosity, bombarded Marta with a million questions that night—the same week that she’d sworn off men, dating, and love altogether. For the first time in ages, someone was actually interested in her story—and not just waiting for their turn to talk.

Our first date came a few days later, when we decided to go rock climbing—because nothing says romance like watching each other awkwardly scramble up a wall. (Marta, terrified of heights, bravely faced her fears—while secretly wondering if this was the worst idea ever.) From there, things really started to rock.

Funny enough, our wedding reception venue also has a rock climbing wall—proof that we’ve been reaching new heights together since day one. But just a heads-up—it’s off-limits for the night. Formal wear and rock climbing harnesses? Not exactly a match made in heaven.

A few weeks later, on December 12th, 2020, we took our first trip together to Austin to see DJ Ghastly. The music was loud, we were front and center with our friends, and we both knew this was the start of something unforgettable (even if our feet were still recovering from all the dancing). This was especially meaningful because Marta, a travel enthusiast, believes every adventure—big or small—has the potential to create lasting memories. And this one certainly did—Ghastly good memories, that is!

Since then, we’ve been on a roller coaster of unforgettable adventures—cross-country moves to California (because who doesn’t love San Diego?), changing jobs (hello, grown-up life), and jet-setting to Europe to meet Marta’s Italian family (who, by the way, accepted Tim with open arms and endless volume). Through it all, there’s been plenty of laughter—and countless moments that have made us stronger together.

Tim has been the most loving adopted dog dad to Tito—Ignacio Alonzo Julio Frederico de Tito, Marta’s "main man" and loyal companion since she was 13—and to Gucci, who got to live the good Cali life before he passed. Let’s be real, chihuahuas aren’t always the easiest to get along with, but Tito? He knew right away that Tim was the one. Tito’s approval of Tim? Beyond priceless.

After all the wild twists and turns (literally and metaphorically), we’re ready to take the biggest leap of all—getting married. And we can’t wait to see what delightful pandemonium our next chapter of life holds!
