Here are some general considerations, suggestions on airports and transportation options to consider when planning your trip.

GENERAL CONSIDERATIONS

For your convenience and independence, we would suggest renting a car to ease your transportation around and during the wedding day, and to have more accommodation options in the nearby area. Renting a minivan with up to 9 seats, including the driver, could also be an option.

Driving in Italy with an American driving license

You will need to apply and obtain an International Driving Permit (IDP) before leaving the USA.

You will be asked to show your driving license together with your IDP at the rental pickup.

You can apply for an IDP in person or by mail at AAA offices (https://www.aaa.com/vacation/idpf.html). It takes 10-15 business days for the IDP to be issued and it is valid for 1 year.

Wedding ceremony

The wedding ceremony will be held in Vigano’ LC, Marta’s hometown. It is a suburbs and countryside area therefore the best and sometimes only way to move around is by car.

The closest local train stations are about a 15-20 minutes drive, local bus transportation is not ideal if you are unfamiliar with the area and taxis are not as accessible as in big cities.

Wedding venue

The wedding reception venue is in Palazzago BG, about 40 minutes drive from Vigano’ LC. Driving is the only option to reach the location and free parking is available inside the location.

The closest airports to the wedding ceremony and venue locations are:

a. Milano Malpensa MXP (Terminal 1 and Terminal 2)

b. Milano Linate LIN

c. Milano Bergamo Orio al Serio BGY

The driving times from the wedding ceremony location Vigano’ LC, considering toll roads, are:

Airport choice as well as transportation to your accommodation (car, train, or bus) will vary according to your specific plans. Moreover, depending on your travel plans around our wedding day, you might want to consider landing or departing from airports different than those suggested above.

Taxis rides are available right outside the airports, but might not be the cheapest option.
