Reid and I had a meet-cute like any modern couple these days...in an online dating app circa December 2020. After sending each other book-length texts to one another for weeks, we finally decided to meet in-person for our first date at a local Thai restaurant in downtown Fayetteville. The date went so well, in fact, that we didn't realize we had accidentally stayed past the restaurant's closing time. What do we do then? We hop next door to another restaurant to continue the date until that restaurant closed. Since day one, conversation felt easy and natural for us. It was as though we had known each other for far more than one evening. It wasn't until years later did Reid confess that when we first started messaging, he thought, "Wow, I could marry this girl." When I began to know Reid's kindness, loving spirit, and genuine care, I had a good feeling I could marry him too. Here we are over four years later! Sometimes, you truly do just know. Since then, our relationship has blossomed. Falling in love with each other was the easy part. Our relationship really grew when we had to lean on and support one another through life's most challenging moments. From the hardest days in my grad program, to each of us transitioning into new jobs, losing loved ones, and both of us going through significant health scares, we've lived a lot of life together in a few short years. These were the times though when we both recognized how thankful we are for each other, and that solidified the seriousness of our commitment to one another. Because we know that the hard days will always come, we also know how important it is to laugh together all the time. In fact, Reid is one of few people on this planet that regularly makes me laugh till I cry. We are completely unafraid to be ourselves together, and we also seek out ways in which we can create connection and meaning with one another. We make each other's lives better by simply being ourselves, and I believe that's something very special. At this point in our relationship, we have been living together in a home that we love in Fayetteville with our feisty cat, Rayla. If you have met Rayla, you know what a big deal it is when I say this: Rayla loves Reid and often demonstrates her affection by stealing and compiling a collection of his socks After years of warming up to her, Reid too (most of the time) loves Rayla. These days, we often spend our time taking regular afternoon walks around Fayetteville like a married couple already, playing video games together, enjoying our date nights every Saturday (a ritual we started when we first began dating), and attending and playing in tennis tournaments. Reid is a sales analyst in Bentonville, and after three years of teaching writing courses at the University of Arkansas, I will be starting a new position in August as an English teacher at Haas Hall Academy in Bentonville. I'm thrilled to be working with a younger group of students and teaching literature for the first time. We are so thankful for our family and friends' support and love throughout our relationship and into our marriage. November 8th will be a special day, indeed, and we are so excited for you to be there. Forever doesn't feel like enough with each other, but it's certainly a good start.

This has been a long-time favorite restaurant of Martha and Reid's where they've celebrated anniversaries and special occasions; in fact this is where they came to celebrate right after Reid proposed.

This is a gorgeous walking and biking trail to check out. It's also an incredibly special place for the couple because this is where Reid proposed to Martha (that is, after taking her off the beaten path and both nearly getting lost--but together in love all the same!).

If you're new to Fayetteville (or you've been here multiple times or live here!), you absolutely should go to our farmer's market on Saturday morning. You'll find the best produce, baked goods, coffee, hand-crafted items, and live music. Have fun!

Finally, this is another great local spot that Martha and Reid go to often. It's been a place of celebration (including Martha's bachelorette trip dinner!) and the discovery of their favorite dinner options--the famous chopped salmon salad with pesto buttermilk dressing (trust us).

Martha and Reid have been to Wilson Park numerous times to play tennis, pickle ball, and go on long walks together. It's a beautiful location and a place where they've cultivated their love--both for each other and competitive tennis.
